Silver Ring Splints - To look like jewelry? | Arthritis Information

Share

I've been working with an occupational therapist for my hands, and b/c three of my fingers have loose ligaments as a result of the RA, they tend to hyperextend.  Ring splints were recommended to help prevent further damage for 3 fingers.

I got them today, and I have mixed feelings.  I think they will really help with typing and things like that, but having them on 3 fingers makes it looks like I've got something wrong with my hands.

A catolog was sent w/ the rings that show where you can get them w/ stones (like lapis or onyx) or even diamonds.  I'm thinking of trying a lapis for one of my fingers and then there's one that twists like a celtic knot.  I was going to exchange one anyway b/c of the size, so I would just be exchanging 2.

The cost is plain or 5 w/ the celtic knot and 0 for the lapis or onyx.

Has anyone else tried the decorative splints for your fingers?

Here's a link to the plain ones (if it works).

I'd love to see the 'designed' ones..  sorry you need them.. but they don't look so bad... and I'm glad they're available to stabilize your joints.hey babs10,

i know once i start work people will want to know what they are.  i had a temporary one that was plastic and the girl at the checkout line at the grocery store even asked about it.  if i don't want to say i have RA, i may say i have problems w/ my ligaments in some of my fingers.

w/ all my complaining, i am thankful there is such a product.  i just wish i didn't need it!
