RA as adult--rheumatic fever as a child | Arthritis Information

Long ago I posted a topic similar to this but now I'm wondering if anyone has heard of any studies/research of people who had rheumatic fever as a child and now have rheumatoid arthritis. I was hospitalized from age 6 to 8 for rheumatic fever, then had a home tutor until I started high school. Then at age 60 (I'm 63 now) I was diagnosed with RA. Since there both rheumatic, inflammatory conditions I wonder if there's a correlation?  Anyone else with this combination of diseases?

I never had Rheumatic Fever.

At the age of 4 I had the beginnings of Rheumatic Fever and had my tonsils and adenoids removed to stop the strep infections.  When I had any dental work done I had to take an antibiotic also.
Take care.My mom had rheumatic fever. She and my sister now have fibro and I have RA.

I have never had Rheumatic Fever either.

I have not had Rheumatic Fever either. My mother did, at 18 she got Ra.

My mother had rheumatic fever as a child and now has rheumatoid arthritis.

My older brother had rheumatic fever at the time I was born and then had it again two years later. His RF tests have been positive for some years now and he has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and degenerative disc disease (very severe). I suspect he probably does have RA as well but the disc disease overshadows everything as he is in incredible pain and now wheelchair bound. I now have RA and possibly fibro as well.

I had scarlet fever as a child, but it did not develop into rheumatic fever.  But I am officially diagnosed with some form of RA, probably Type 1, and I now believe I was slowly sickening since 1959, after the scarlet fever.  I had rheumatic fever when I was 8. I was hospitalized for 5 weeks with it. Was on massive doses of prednisone for a long time. I came out of it pretty well. I took daily pennicillin until I was 18. I was diagnosed with Ra in 2005 but think I had had it for a few years before diagnosis.
