Does Anyone Get Swelling? | Arthritis Information

My left foot gets swollen sometimes from the RA.  But the last couple of days my calf has been swollen and sore.  It feels like the calf muscle has been overworked.  I exercised on my stationary bike last week and I noticed it felt more stressed than the other calf but it didn't start hurting until 2 days ago.  What do you guys do for swelling if you get it?My calf muscles hurt quite a bit. Often they feel like I had run or something. I elevate them, take Ibuprofen and wait.....You could have a blood clot, not to alarm you, but when someone comes to the ER complaining of pain where you are, that's what we assume they have until proven otherwise. I don't know your history or what medications you take. If I were you, I'd be on the phone with my doctor. (hope it turns out to be nothing)If it does turn out to be just swelling from RA, I find ice helps, but some people prefer heat.My hands will swell up especially in the mornings. Left one more so than the right. I have used a hot barely sock for the pain and Ibuprofen for swelling. Feet sommetines swell up too and I use ibuprofen and elevation to relieve. You probubly have it checked though just to be safe.

The only medication I am on is Aleve.   The swelling does go down when I elevate my leg and the pain has subsided so I am walking better now that the morning fog has gone.  I have swelling in my hands and feet usually in the morning.    It seems I am swelling more now that it is so, so humid here and between the humidty and the a/c (ugh!) when will it end.   I swear each morning I get up and wonder how and what will I deal with today!

I hear you. Sometime I wonder how I will make it through the next minute. Oh! One with a Favio type on the cover would nice.Disregard me previous post. It shpould have went on another thread and I have no idea how to delete it.
Boy you can tell I sure am new at this.I use ice for 30 minutes and then heat for 30 minutes.I had calf pain last year that felt like a charlie horse that wouldn't stop. No amount of stretching, pain meds, etc helped, so I called my doc and he had me come in immediately and then sent me to have an ultrasound done on it to make sure it wasn't a clot. It wasn't. He said it was a "true" charlie horse and those take six weeks to heal and it took me six weeks to the day, lol. He said the ones that wake you up at night and cause you to jump out of bed screaming are plain ol leg cramps...

I'm glad you're feeling better, it sounds like maybe a cramp, but you might want to get checked out if it doesn't go away completely in a day or two...
