I would like to see if there are any special foods, excersices, vitamins that may help with this disease.  I have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis and I am only 29 years old.  It is in my hips and I am having alot of pain with it.  I have to children and they are both very active.  I want to be able to keep up with them for the long run.  So far everything is going ok, but the pain seems to be getting worse.   Can anyone shed any light on this?  Thanks for taking your time in answering me!

Dana,

Sorry to hear about the pain you are having.

Have you seen a rheumatologist for your OA? I have OA in my thumbs, hip, shoulder and now probably my knees. The two things my rheumy said for me to do is to "exercise and stay thin." I also have recently been diagnosed with fibro.  I have been trying lately to do a little exercise, some treadmill and some range of motion exercises.

I am not much help, but just wanted to say welcome and we are here for you. And definitely talk to your dr. about what you can do for the pain.

I really appreciate the info, and the nice warm welcome!  I look
forward to getting to know everyone and sharing experiences with you all.  I
will go to see my DR. tomorrow and he will decide what plan of action
that we will take.  Talk to you soon.  Until then take care.

I have been reading a book called "A Doctor's Home Cure for Arthritis" by Dr. Giraud W. Campbell.

Dr. Campbell's food regime consists mainly of vegetables, fruit and nuts. He recommends that the vegetables should be eaten raw. But then he advocates eating raw liver!

I'm sorry, but that has killed my interest in this plan right there.  However, if you decide to try it, please let us know if it works.
