Oh my aching hands! | Arthritis Information

Good thing tomorrow is infusion day. I am typing this with my left hand as it is not as badly swelled as my right hand. I cannot even make a closed or even a fist at all.

I do not know why my hands/fingers have decided to join in on the swelling game. It has been a few months since they have swelled like this.

Here is my right hand.

I hope tomorrow is better day for me swell wise. This sucks my right hand freaked up like it is now. It is in constant pain. And OMG!!! When I bump the fingers or hand... the PAIN!
I'm so sorry!  I just posted about this in Sunam's thread.  Do NSAIDs not work for you?  Did they ever?  My knuckles have never been that swollen.  OUCH.  I was so miserable when my hands were like that.  It really did hurt to have anything touch my hand at all.  I would try to sleep with my hand up in the air. Uh, that didn't work.  I guess that's why you take sleeping pills, huh?  Just have to hope Mobic keeps working for me (for pain at least.  I guess damage is a different story).  Glad that tomorrow is infusion day for you!!!!!Oh my goodness. That how my hands were today. I haven't been able to make a fist all day. they are still sore. The pred and the diclofanac aren't doing their job very well. I am good at typing with 2 fingers though.  One thing is I can see how valuable a digital camera can be. I gotta get mine  fixed for taking pictures for RD cause my luck is I always go and nothing is swollen.

Swollen hands, but BEAUTIFUL nails! LOL

Hope your infusion goes well tomorrow Joonie!

Joonie, I hope that infusion knocks the crap out of ra and your hand feels better soon! Kind of looks like my hand but I don't have long nails and my hand doesn't hurt, it just looks like it does.
take care
Infusion day is finally here! boy it was a long wait. Who is taking you? I hope your relief lasts longer and you have many many more good days ahead so you can be there for your mommy. Does the paraffin baths help your hands when they get sore and stiff?

I love ya girlie, take good care of yourself first!
deb
When my hands are hurting I use stress balls and that really helps relieve
the pain and swelling.
Well... no infusion, but the steroid drip is doing a good job on it!

Here my fingers as of tonight. They ACTUALLY bend! That kinds sounded like a commercial for fingers LMAO! I kow they still look swelled, but the wrinkles on my knuckles closest to the finger tips, are wrinkled now and not just a faint line on the knuckles.

Joonie, you might try soaking those hands in some cold water to ease the swelling. The swelling is almost gone now. Thanks for the tip though! My index finger and middle finger always look swelled, but they are not. Same with a couple of fingers on my left hand too. I can make a complete fist again and my upper knuckles close to my hand are boney again... better to punch hubby with, when he loses his Klondike for the day or the next few days! Seen the klondike commercial where the guy ignores a woman in tight jeans walking pass him, which earned him a klondike, well now I tell hubby when he loses his klondike... hehehehehe. So far he will not have a klondike for 5 years LMAO!

I keep gel icepacks in the freezer for hand/foot swellings.  I let them warm up for a bit so I don't get frostbite, and then use an Ace bandage to secure them to the offending appendage(s).  If nothing else, the coolness eases the pain.  It often eases the swelling too, at least for a bit.

MIne look about like yours Joonie, like you sometimes I have a hard time closing them, especially thee right one. Lots of timews it takes till afternoon for wnough of the swelling to go down so that I can use it like any one else uses their hand.
