Avara | Arthritis Information

Hello all... My doctor has just started me on Avara..along with MTX and Plaquelnil and various other meds. Has anyone had experience with this drug? Did you experience hair loss? side effects? Anything you could tell me would be greatly appreciated.

I am on Arava now. I was formerly on MTX and before that on plaquenil. I have never heard of any doctor prescribing all three at the same time.

I expected side effects from Arava but have not yet experienced any. I am relatively new to it though so something might be lurking. I was taken off MTX because it was too hard on my immune system.

I didn't have a great experience with Arava. I had taken MTX for about 6
yrs and my liver enzymes started going crazy. We tried arava but I had all
the side effects. The worst was the thinning hair. I was aftraid to run a
brush through it.
I hope you don't have any of these problems. Lots of people don't!

For me Arava has been no trouble but it can cause the same troubles as MTX. I sure was miserable on MTX - hated the stuff.

Arava brought pain relief but it kept me chained to the bathroom for six months! I had endless diarrhea while taking that med. It was AWFUL!

I have been on Arava 6 months and experiencing hair loss the last two months. ( I introduced myself to this forum by asking for remedies just today!) I hear a lot about folic acid in this forum. I already take 400 mcg in my multivitamin. Maybe I should try more.

Molly Bee, it was the Relafen that did that to me. That stuff is infamous for causing trots!
