Trigger Toes, anyone? | Arthritis Information

OK, here's one for you:  I think I may be developing the beginning of Trigger Finger, where my index or middle fingers flex in automatically.  And it hurts.  Sometimes they even splay upwards and outwards.  Freaky and painful.

But, has anyone had this happen to their toes?  Mine spasm all of the time, and the worst of it is when I'm driving and have to pull my foot off of the gas/break!  Doctor thinks I'm goofy, but maybe I've just been describing it to him incorrectly.  I thought at first I was having spasms from being on so much pred., but after reading more about Trigger Finger, I think that's where I'm headed.  Oh, I think me and me ole dental profession are completely done for!  It's been over a year, and I don't think I'm ever going to get it back.

Bummer.  Whatever.

I am pretty sure this is the beginning of "hammer toes" -- mine do that at times -- and it's very painful.Hammer toes, trigger fingers...I'm a veritable housing for names of things that can cause pain.

Meanwhile, on a prettier note, I now have a large group ( I've seen 6 at once this am) of the most beautiful yellow finches living in my trees all of the sudden.  Here's to taking the smaller beauties and making us smile.  They are dancing around my front yard now.  If I could walk out there, I'd shoot a picture, but the knees aren't working today.
RDHcRA2008-07-10 07:26:42Hi Lisa, well, I see you've joined the "toe spasm" group!  Yikes, it hurts.  Thankfully, it only lasts a little while.  No one has ever been able to tell me the reason.  They come and go.  I may have spasms for a day or so and then not have them for months.  They seem to be worse when my PA is flaring and I think it has to do with neuropathy.

You're so right, it's the small things now in life that are worthwhile.  Lindy
I have had it in my hands a few times. In my toes too and one time my whole foot was contorted and stuck. It was so painful and I tried to put it on the floor to get the cramp out but it was so painful. I massaged the cramp out. My sis who is an rn said I'm not getting enough potassuim so now I have eat a banana everyday and it's helped to make them go away. I also was prescribed muscle relaxers which really really helped.
I hope you are over them by now. I know how much it hurts and it is freaky.
I get those toe cramps often.  They don't last long, but they hurt!  I assumed they were similar to charley horses in leg muscles...I also have this in my toes.  It does come and go.  I actually mentioned it to my Dr. today and he said to get some tonic water and drink every night before I go to bed (i get them at night, but not only when I am sleeping).  He said they used to prescribe quinine, and that tonic water has this ingredient.

Is this RA related?  I am newly dx, so I am now looking back on alot of "unexplained" things I used to go to the doctor for with no help and wondering.  Like the alopecia, etc.
