Story from the Times

Marketing is a part of other "businesses".  Why can't drug companies be afforded the same ability to market?  I'm an RN that has been a recipient of the pens, mugs, clocks, magnets, etc.   I didn't see it sway the physician I was working with one bit.  Neither did the lunches however, the sales pitch was helpful after weeding out the marketing and extracting the useful information.  That's just my thoughts. You didn't think you saw it happen but it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.  There are hundreds of studies in journals as prestigious as JAMA saying it does.  My personal favorite was when MD's responded that it didn't effect them...but it effected other doctors.  LOL

What did you mean by "sales pitch was helpful after weeding out the marketing and extracting the useful information"  You understand a sales pitch has nothing to do with facts and only with getting something prescribed.  Think of used car salesmen - they don't mention the fact that the car has been restored from an accident - but they do point out the low mileage.  Same focus - different sales.

This is only the tip of the iceberg.  Those lunche and trips have to go.

And Jas - I think your Viagra is going to be worth something really soon!

Hugs.
