VIOLENT CRIMINALS SHOULD RECEIVE VIOLENT SENTANCES

Lev, what would you call a violent sentence?  Give us a "ferinstance" I agree.
What brought this on Lev?
I was listening to the news a few weeks ago and these criminals had done such violence to this woman, just beyond human comprehension and as I looked at those criminals in the courthouse that thought came into my mind after they said that those criminals could be sentanced to life in prison. I am one that doesn't have more or less sympathy for a victim because of the age or sex. Everyone is capable of the same fears and pains.  I guess I am just sick of criminal violence. Vilence, just violence. When someone uses violence to get their way or for sport, that's violence and should be punished by violence. It was just my thot for the day, what's yours?

Stirring the thinking pot:

Wouldn't that just breed more violence? Is that like fighting fire with fire? It makes for a good saying, but in practical theory, it doesn't work?

I'm just trying to poke more conversation, that's all.

It just makes me think of elementary school, when you're taught that when someone hits you, hitting them back doesn't make it right. You know, two wrongs don't make a right?

But at times, I feel the same way. I see what someone did to another person, and it's so horrible you can't help but think "some one should do that to HIM/HER so they'll know how it feels"

Anyway. Yeah.
I hear on the news of such terrible violence that people do to others. But can we really call them people? Monsters is still not a harsh enough name for those that commit those crimes against others.
But my thought for the day would be...I am sick of idiot drivers. When I see a mini van with kids in the back without seatbelts and the parent is driving way too fast in a residential area.
And I hate it when people don't use their blinkers. Are they making cars now with the option of blinkers and people decide not to get them because they won't use them anyhow?
I don't think that hitting someone back is two wrongs.. what it does is prevent that bully from hitting you again!  I've told my children never to initiate a fight.. but when hit, they have the right to defend themselves..

I too often feel that the most horrific crimes should be met w/ harsher penalties... instead those who commit horrific acts are given their squares and a warm place to sleep... Many criminals can be rehabilitated... but not the most violent.  Those that prey on children, and defenseless people should not be catered to in a prison cell... but should be treated to a ticket out.  Yes, I am for the penalty of death to those repeat offenders of violence and those who practice extreme violence to other human beings.

Not a politically correct stance I know.. but it is honestly how I feel.
I think that we should empty out all the jails and prisons and send the killers and murderers to Iraq or Pakistan.  For one thing, they could drive ahead of the troops and make the journey much safer for our soldiers, etc. etc.  All of these road side bombs are terrible!  And just think how much our taxes would go down.  We are supporting these creeps along with their wives and children and they get free health care!!  Heck, they get free everything!
Just a thought!

Seriously though, is it even possible to define PC in *this* type of scenario? I don't think it is. I think that word is worn out, and no longer applies to certain things. This being one of them.

Some times I agree with you - thinking people like that should just be "dealt with".

And then sometimes I stop and think "Maybe it's just NOT up to me, or anyone else to decide. Maybe that's God's deal"

But then again, there's the book of James...........so ya know. Laws are laws are laws. So says the book.

seriously.. I think ALL the PC crap is just that.. crap.  suddenly words we've used all our lives are not acceptable?  everything is tweaked so as not to offend... whereas it all MEANS the same thing..and offense is taken nonetheless... seems ridiculous to me.

I drive a gas guzzler.  Out of need!!  I have 140 lb dog who stands over 3 feet tall at the haunches and is 7 feet tall on his hind legs... and had four out of five kids still at home when we bought it.  Not a status symbol to me.. but I get dirty looks when I drive through the tree hugging town next door.  As if.. I had a choice of other vehicle based upon need.  *sigh*  what else does the bible say:  Judge not, lest ye be judged?  Hmmmmmmmm

back to OP: Not that the decision of punishment or penalty would ever be made by you or I.. we are merely voicing opinions here .. not writing law or deciding penalties in the real world...
I vote island for repeat offenders. They can kill each other and all the things they did to get on that island. Make sure the island has a couple of huts for them and some food bearing trees, and every 3rd week supplies are dropped to them just off shore where the most shark infested.

Just my thought.

I do not watch news, too sad and too much to cause me to have more fear then I already have.

Heck... I was walking, more like gimping,  thru wal-mart the other day when I noticed this guy watching me. It kinda creeped me out, I kept thinking maybe he saw me as easy prey and was thinking of harming me in some way. I was gimping along way behind hubby and the kids, so it looked like I was alone. I mean he watched me walk towards, and away from him and then when he saw me walk off with hubby & the kids the guy lost interest. I mean he looked like he probably been in jail before, not labeling, but he just did not strike me as a good guy. I mean I actually felt him staring at me. I get feelings about people, most of the times when they are not good people.
