Muscle Weakness (quads) | Arthritis Information

Feb 2007: I gave birth.

April 2007: had a lot of muscle weakness in my thighs.  Trouble climbing stairs.
Went to PCP.  He thought thyroid or anemia or B12.  Was none of these.  Thyroid even high.
December 2007: dx inflammatory arthritis

Now it's back.  I had been doing the treadmill every night for a week, was proud of myself.  Not to hard or too long.  That may have nothing to do with this.

My thigh muscles don't hurt at all, they just feel weak.  I don't want to stand too long.  Just want to lie down. I want to walk on the treadmill (trying to lose 5 lbs) but I just don't have the energy.  I have also been very constipated again.  Sorry if TMI.  Had done well for about a month but it's back again.  I can drink a cup of prune juice, eat raisin bran, take a full dose of fiber pills and I get close to regular but not quite there.  Blarg.

Also I have been on 20 mg MTX for 6 weeks now but recently I feel pretty off the two days after.  Had been taking it on Sunday nights, but I start a new job next Monday and I really don't want to be wiped out.  I want to switch to Friday nights.  Don't know if I should start this Friday or do a week off.  But the MTX has done zilch for me so far (working on month 5) so I hate to space it out even more (although I've about lost hope on it).  Will probably call the doc tomorrow

Thanks for listening.
much hugs.

I hope the doctor will have some answers for you.
Katie - you are doing tons of pro-active measures on your own, that's remarkable.  Keep up the good work.  CathyYou said your thyroid was even high...what did you mean by that?  was your TSH high?  are you taking thyroid medicationBlarg I just typed a post and it got deleted.

Dr. thought I might have hypothyrodism, but I guess I was ever so slightly actually hyperthyroid (but not enough to worry about).  I don't understand it but he did a full panel.  This was back in April 2007.  I have had it tested a million times b/c I have trouble with fatigue and syptoms of it and doctors are always convinced I will have it then the full panel comes back normal.  My dad takes synthroid though, although he didn't start until middle age (I think)

if your thryoid numbers are not optimized at a level that is best for you then even being a little hyper or hypo can cause serious problems.

go visit http://thyroid.about.com

they have a very active thyroid board..give them your symptoms and your lab results if you have them and see what they have to say.  Like you said the symptoms fit
