OT: I visited my mommy | Arthritis Information

I got to visit with my mom for a little over an hour. She looks sooo GOOD! She looks like she did before the bypasses. You can tell she has some pain still, to be expected, but she does not look stressed out and that.

My kids were wanting to visit her Monday, at my sisters house, but I did not want to bother her with them, because they can be a little loud and all. But we went tonight, and she was happy to see them.

I had my mom show my daughter her "boo boo", because daughter was asking me about it, so I asked my mom if she would show it to her and she said sure. Daughter got groosed out and felt bad for her. and then a few mins later she forgot all about her grandma's "boo boo".

I made my mom laugh, but I did not mean to. When she laughs it makes her cough and then hurts her.

My mom was stil being a little "cocky" that is what my sister calls it... I call it attitudinal... she had some smart @ss replies and a lot of attitude LOL! I like it when my mom is that way, because I usually am not on the receiving end of the stick, it is always one of my other siblings heehehehee!!

I did not tell my mom about me going in for the TEE. I decided before I got there I would not tell her about it, but I almost let it slip that I had another 24hr holter. Because she asked me if I found my missing cellphone. Then I told her yeah, it was in the couch, but I did not know how it got in the couch because it was in my other pant pocket and the holter made me feel like it was my cellphone.

But she did not catch on to what I said.

She is all bruised up still... she was complaining of that tonight, but she said she feels a little better.

I think her decreased lung function is causing her the most problems right now. She is having respitory therapy at home. She still has to have oxygen when she sleeps and some thru the day when she needs it.

She gets short of breath still, but she says it is not as bad when she sits up straighter. Which they are sending her a hospital bed for her. She said she wished it was there already because sitting on the couch and in the recliner is making her have trouble breathing because she cannot sit upright as good like the hospital bed can do for her.

But she looks good and all.

She was quite bummed about missing all of her church functions this week and some of the ones she missed while being in the hospital. I told her see had to get use to missing them until she was able to go more places and doing better. She just looked at me like I was a nut LOL! Then my sister said yep that is right... you will not get to go for at least a month. She just looked sad. My mom going to church is her life. I know she misses it, but she has to get better before she can go and do all that she was doing.
Joonie. It is good for your mom to laugh and cough. It is good for her lungs and will keep her from getting post op pneumonia. So keep making her laugh. Sounds like your mom is making a really great recovery!  I'm so happy to hear it Joonie.Yeah, I know it is good for her to cough, but I just do not like that I know when she laughs it causes her pain.

When my brother from california was down, he was making her laugh, while she was still in the hospital, and I told him to stop making her laugh that it hurt her. He said she needed to laugh to help her cough which is what she needed. I knew that, but I did not want to see her in pain. She was already in a lot of pain from when her sturnum cracked where her wires were.

She is doing that breathing thing. Where you have to inhale and get that thing to float up. She said she can get it up to 1000. But she mostly stays at 750 for now. She does it 10times every 2 hours or something like that. When she first done it while in the hospital, she could only get it to 250. So she is improving.
Great news that she is doing well- glad to hear it!Joonie,
So glad to hear your mom is doing well.  Let your mom laugh it wil be good for her. Even though it may hurt it will help her keep her lungs clear of fluid building up and causing pneumonia as Lorster said. Take care and enjoy your day.
