I did it! | Arthritis Information

I can't believe it's Wednesday already. I've been so busy moving my family in Monday and Tuesday. We're almost done and I've been able to move and lift some stuff as I am feeling so good.

I was so scared to give myself the enbrel shot after that disaster of an experience at the RD's. Enliven had called me to see how it went and I told them. They said enbrel should never be injected straight from the fridge, apart from the burning it would cause, it is too thick and takes along time to push. No kidding! They wanted to contact the Dr's office, but I said no, I don't think the nurse would normally have done that, but the first injector failed.

Anyhoo, I was sick to my stomach with worry re giving myself the shot and my dh said don't worry I'll do it for you if you get up early on Monday, so that took some of the pressure off. Sunday night I was so tired after getting the house ready for family, he said to save getting up early why don't we do the shot now? I reluctantly agreed and followed many suggestions, iced the area, benzocaine and alcohol, and of course warmed the injector with a hot cup of tea and a chocolate treat on the side

Quick question though, has anyone experienced chest tightness with enbrel? Or maybe this is the Latent TB treatment, INH causing this. It started I think 2 days after the first enbrel shot and cleaning sprays and even a dryer sheet etc really get me wheezing a bit. New symptom for me.

Thanks again for all your support.

P.S. Started a new probiotic this week, Natures Way primadophilis reuteri pearls. They have worked wonders with my yeast issues.
Hi Jen,

Congratulations on giving yourself your shot!  The thought of doing it is a lot worse than actually doing it, isn't it?  You mentioned chest tightness and it got me to thinking...I have asthma and was told by my rheumy that some of the biologics actually make the asthma worse, so I'd discuss this with your doctor.  I'd also suggest a call to Enliven to find out if it is one of the listed adverse reactions.

Wishing you the best,

Robin
Congrats on your bravery! Glad it didn't hurt!

I don't know the answer to your question however.
Thanks guys,

I can't believe I was making such a big deal out of it now, but that first one was a doozy.

I guess the symptoms I'm having do feel like that of asthma. I didn't know that biologics could aggrevate milder conditions like that. It's been a very long time, childhood, since I've had asthma/allergy issues.

Thanks Again

Jenny
