Need some Help..Immune disorder rashes? | Arthritis Information

Does anyone know anything about rashes that have to do with auto immune disorders? I'm trying to find this on the internet and thought I remembered reading there are rashes associated with RA and other immune disorders like Lupus has the butterfly rash on the face.

This morning i've broken out in rashes all over my body, tiny pin point red dots..not itchy or hurting. stomache, arms, back, chest, legs...in clusters. very strange, it's happend before. Not on my face though. I didnt eat anyting funny, or start new meds. I cant figure out why this would be happening. Do I need to worry or is it just a part of RA?

Thanks guys!!
I'd let a doctor see it!   Did you spend a lot of time in the sun this morning?
I agree with Suzanne - would let a doc check it out.  I personally question everything now that I have some AI diseases.

I'm having the same problem except I'm incredibly itchy; it started a week ago.  My PCP sent me to a dermatologist; he has no idea.  My rheumy just said, "Oh, you have a rash" and left it at that.  My AI system is exquisitely sensitive; I have severe allergic reactions at least once per month, but this rash doesn't seem to have anything to do with soaps, detergents, meds, etc.

One thing I would recommend until you can get into the doctor:  some meds make you sun sensitive.  You can get a rash just from being in the sunlight, so try to avoid that and see if that helps.

I wish you a speedy recovery and answers to your questions.

I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago - just legs and arms though.  It itched terribly - which then of course made it look worse.  I was out in the sun that weekend, so assuming it was due to sun and it's cleared up except for a few here and there.    I've been in the sun since then and it hasn't happened, so not sure if I didn't put enough lotion on or was maybe out too long the first time.   It's on my list for next visit to ask and I'll be calling sooner if it happens again.    It could be a cutaneous vasculitis rash. They can look like tiny pin pricks. I would have a dr look at it, they will know. Mine usually don't itch.I would let a doctor see it too.  There is an autoimmune disorder called idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura that is caused by lymphocyte mediated destruction of platelets within the spleen.  I have a friend that had this and she had the pinpoint rash.  I'm not saying that's what is going on and hope I didn't scare you with this.  The main thing is to get checked as soon as possible.
