Diflunisal -vs- Etodolac | Arthritis Information

I've been taking Diflunisal 500mg 2 @day for a year, doesn't seem to help with pain... RD switched me to Etodolac 300mg 2 @day... my concern is the paper that came with it said it can cause fatal heart problems, heart attacks & stroke... kidney & liver problems... not to take if using Lasix, aspirin 81mg, methotrexate or smoke- I'm on all 3 & smoke... my Internist said not to worry about this, they have to put those warnings out... it seems all RA rx's are dangerous... is it just me or does anyone else feel like this... has anyone tried Etodolac and had success with it? I'm basically scared to take it... I do have blood work every 6 weeks to check for problems...
Peace to you all...
I've taken etodolac (Lodine) without any problems.  It worked as well as most other NSAID's for me.  I think most of the problems you're reading about are true of any of the NSAID's.  There are no "safe" medications in terms of having no risks.  If you are concerned, I would call the RD.  But otherwise I would start it and just keep an eye out for any unusual side effects, plus try to stop smoking too (I know it's hard).
