i can't stand this pain in my hands.  my right hand is worse.  last night after boarding my home up and securing it, my hand/knuckles stiffened up where i couldn't move it.  my right hand hurt so bad and it seemed to travel up my wrist.

my pinky finger seemed deformed for hours.  what could this be.  it is bilateral but the left hand is mostly stif.    my hands are stiff alot but my right hand burned so bad last night i actually need pain medication.

both hands fell asleep last night while sleeping.

any opinions.  RA, carpel tunnel, etc...

My guess would be peripheral neuritis.  My RD says that goes along with RA as does carpal tunnel.  That is not to say that carpal tunnel does not exist for other reasons as well, but if you have no history of carpal tunnel and have been diagnosed with RA and all of a sudden carpal tunnel shows up, then it is probably because of the RA.  The clinician who diagnosed me and the neurologist who consulted with me said "clear up the RA clear up the peripheral neuritis or carpal tunnel."  Seems to have worked that way in my case.  Peripheral neuritis also causes fingers and toes to feel numb in case you have that problem also.Forgot one thing.  Doc also said that any excess activity can set off the peripheral neuritis or carpal tunnel - like you pounding nails!!!  Your bent finger could be because you were gripping so tight and it wants to cramp in that position.  I have discovered that you can have muscle and tendon problems due to excess activity.
