Just wanted to take a minute to welcome all my buddies from the AF board, it is so good to have you here. I look forward to chatting and catching up with everybody.

Reader, AKA JamieWelcome friend - good to see you - lots of us AF'ers here now!
Hugs!

Probably a stupid question, but what happened to the AF board?I was wondering the same thing Joonie!Mainly the Board runs soooo slow. The people running the board have promised us all a new upgrade - and they keep shutting down the board to do the upgrade - and then the  board is back up and running in a few days - the exact same way - no new changes - and running as slow as ever - it is super frustrating - and everyone seems to be slowly leaving because of their frustration. It's very unfortunate - because there was a great community of people there. The administrator has shown us a photo of the  new board - so we do know that one exists - but nobody seems to want to take "the bull by the horns" to get it running - or the blame for not getting it running.
I still check the board daily - but there are only a small handful of people left - there just doesnt seem to be much action anymore.  Thanks to you all for sharing your wonderful site with us!

Oh Ok, Thanks for the answer!

Hope they get it up & running soon, if not we get to keep ya's!!The board is slow as a glacier.  It's impossible to respond to threads as it takes so long to load.  They've been promising to upgrade the darn thing since forever but really started promising since May and have continually 'missed' their new deadlines.  I've been waiting and checking in occasionally but don't post much because of the delays.  Rumor has it Nikkilynn posted a come to AI message and that started the exodus.  Either way, it's good because I for one, cannot believe Abbott Labs who sponsors that board, should put up with losing a captive audience because of a system that's beyond archaic.

On another note, I am a smidge concerned about the AF people.  Most are wonderful people and great to know one on one but their board was essentially unmonitored.  The AF board is, IMHO, totally 'listen to your doctor' and 'traditional medicine only'.  That's fine and good for those that believe that but for those that 'question authority' (such as myself) I found the board 'hostile' to outside opinions.

There was a very disturbing trend on that board to 'gang up' on posters who asked about anything other than 'biologic' or 'traditional DMARD's'.  Lots of support for those who were using the traditional meds but absolutely NO support for those who chose a different route.  There were also a core group of 'Christian's (and I'm using that term loosely) who used God as a battering ram for those who don't follow the pack.

My guess is that when the new board eventually shows up they will go back to AF.  Until that time, my worry is about the 'ganging up' mentality.  AF never evolved into a board like we have with those interested in diet, AP, distilled water, or whatever getting the info and being helped by everybody no matter what route they chose.  The best example lately is Buckeye's help when the APers were AWOL and somebody needed help.  NOW THAT's a great board!

My hope is that if the ganging up starts again like what happened around 12/06 til about 9/07 (the oldtimers remember :-) then we'll all just remain calm and ignore that kind of garbage.  We have a great board like nowhere else on the net - let's keep it that way.

Yes, I posted the link to this board.  There was a concern that people wouldn't be able to stay in contact because the board took so long to load.   Some other regular posters also posted links to other boards for just the same reason.

Please note that I have posted on both boards for quite some time and I find the people on both the AF board and this board to be kind, compassionate people who want to share and help others with RA.

Everyone is entitled to their own perceptions and opinions.....but I have always found the AF board people to be open to new ideas and  honest about expressing their opinions!  And they are also very good at ignoring  conflict and insults.............

PS.........Welcome Jamie :)

I'm surprized to hear the 'Christians' gang up on anyone alternative.  I've seen programming on Christian TV by doctors who are VERY alternative.  Very alternative.

Thanks Lynn!
I hope to find friendship and helpful information here - and hopefully I can share some with others.
Everyone so far has been very welcoming - and it is much appreciated!

No problem!  Welcome Jamie, we are a pretty tough gang to hang with, but it always sorts its way out.  And its a full moon tonight.  Take care and I look forward to getting to know you.  CathySo far -so good -a nice meld of 2 boards!

By the way, I am a Christian and if I ever say anything that offends anyone please let me know and I will try my best to apologize and make it right.

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear - not 'real' Christians, faux Christians - the Jesus Loves Me but He Hates You kind of Christian.

Hi Jamie - Welcome to AI!

I do not to use my belief system as a billy club.  I think we know there are a lot of people on various boards and not all of them are of the same faith.  We need to have consideration for others and their belief systems.

And as a matter of point - I think not one of us is going to know 'who is right' until after we're dead.

Hugs,

Pip

Pip who is off to ice skate~""   EWWWW.

I found my way over here - just saying hi!  I'm still hoping they will come through for us on the AF board, but I'm glad I found this place - lots of good threads!  You can never have too much information, and it's always nice to "meet" new people!

Welcome musician![QUOTE=Bird Girrl]eeewwwww.
   EWWWW.

And I don't even know anyone from AF, but bird of feather flock together.  Thanks for starting the ruckus - not.
Hello everyone.... Hi Pip... I also came from the AF Board. I've been unable to post much there due to the speed (lack of) of the board.  My job has gotten very complicated and it's taking up too much of my time and energy, makes it impossible for me to be active there. I too hope they fix it soon, meantime, I'll try to get around. It's always nice to "talk" to people who live RA just like me... People with Cancer refer to themselves as "surviving" their disease. I think of us as "living" ours. Make sense?
José  Jose!  How are you babe?  Glad you found us!

I think of beating it into the ground!  LOL

Pip
"Beating it into submission" is my goal in life.  Hi to all.  Lindy

Hi Pip, I'm doing alright... You know me, I always come around eventually...

Funny, enough, I'll settle for peaceful co-existence... Heh...
José2008-07-21 10:02:29Hi Jose-

I have a friend whose daughter is in Scottsdale.  She is married with 3 children, has MS, another challenge!

Glad you are better not bitter.

Jan in CA
Hi Jan,
Scottsdale is a lovely place to live.... I mean once you get used to 100+ degrees for 3-4 months out of the year. My wife & kids love it. I am used to it. Sometimes I love it, sometimes not so much...
