YAY!! I got my auth. for my RD referral today. Not bad since it was just submitted yesterday. (thankfully my insurance allows me to check on it online or else it would take 10 days to get the letter in the mail!) So first thing Monday I will calling for the appt. I asked my husband last night if he would come with me. I will feel less intimidated that way I am sure!

GREAT NEWS!!

Can you get your regular doctor to refer you to the RD? It will probably be a much less longer wait if your dr refers you, than you calling for the appt yourself.

I know I called to make mine it was going to be 3 months, then I hung up and called my then GP and he called to make my appt and I got in 2 months earlier.

I've never asked if my pcm here on base could call and make the appt, but I certainly will keep that in mind if they say it will take any longer than a couple of weeks. I know the last two RD I went to see it only took about 3 weeks, but then after the experiences I had with them, I don't wonder that they weren't slammed full! Thanks for all the support I have gotten on here. Reading all of your stories, the good and the bad, has really helped me!

Great news and I hope that your husband goes with you.  It's a second set of eyes and ears plus they remember questions that we forget.  Lindy Great news for you. I have to agree with what Joonie says. cause your PCP can usually get you in much faster if they do the scheduling.  Hopefully your husband will go in with you. If not (mine wouldn't) take someone you feel confident with.  I took my son. A second set  of eyes and ears always helps.

For spell check. My eyes aren't so good anymore.
mom2threeinaz2008-07-18 18:06:47Congrats.  My husband was a rock while I floundering around in the system for years, and he witnessed alot of ugliness.  You are very lucky with your husband's support, as another person in the room completely changes the doctor's behavior.  And if the RD sends your husband out for the exam, have him refuse, its not like he hasn't seen you nekkid before :)  Take care ~~ Cathy
