my rhummy's assistant called and for some reason acted nervous as all heck.

She said there was something in my gallbladder that they think might be gallstones so i need to see a GI doctor as soon as I can.

Does anyone know if gallstones cause swelling in the arms and legs if it is in a bad stage?  I can't find any of my symptoms under gallbladder problems except that i have trouble digesting dairy.
I am sorry, bubba. I hope nothing to wrong with ya.

Hugs.
I had an acute attack so I can't help you there.  I hope the
GI doc can shed some light on it.  If you do need it out-it has really become a very easy procedure--outpatient.
Sorry to hear it Bubba.  Hope it gets resolved soon. Thanks all.

I am a nervous wreck that something else will pop up when the GI doc looks at it.  I thank god for paxil, hate to see what i would be like without it.

I just hope they get me in right away, not like the rhummy which took 8months.

Bubba -

You might PM JSNM - I think she had her gallbladder out and if I remember correctly, she had a lot of symptoms like you did.

Hugs,

Pip
PS - she's fine, obviously.
If it's infected, it might cause lymph nodes to become inflamed and not work properly - that could cause swelling.

The surgery is pretty minor, and you'll feel better once it's out.
So sorry to hear that Bubba. It must have scared you. But I hear the operation is simple. Good Luck.Bubba, the gallbladder sits under your liver. It stores bile made by the liver. Bile helps with digestion of fats. When fats are pushed from the stomach to the small intestine that triggers the gallbladder to squirt some bile into the intestine. If you have gall stones, they can get stuck in the neck of the gallbladder and no bile will get through. The small intestine calls for it again and again when none comes through the first time, this causes the gallbladder to contract and squeeze and try it's best to get the bile in there. That's what hurts so bad is teh gall bladder contracting when it's inflammed. My GB is gone, I had no stones, mine just died. The procedure is simple, done with a laparascope inserted throught your belly button, you'll have a few more pokes in your belly so they can insert tools. They grab the GB and remove it through your navel. You'll feel much better after this is over and done with. I'd get a copy of my ultrasound, take it to my PCP and let him/her refer me to a surgeon. There are pills that you can take to help stop the formation of stones, however the results are vastly unreliable and you already have stones so wouldn't be of much help to you. Some people go for extended periods of time before having theirs out because of no insurance or fear of the surgery itself. Some doctors will allow you to wait unless you begin running a fever or have a high white blood cell count or if your liver enzymes go through the roof. The surgery is a same day event, have it in the morning, home by afternoon. I hope this helps :)bubba - (thanks Pip, I had already decided to post when I saw bubba's opening post :)

I had a bad pain in my right side for many years.  I finally pulled my records from Cleveland Clinic Florida after 5 years of going nowhere, and the next doctor I saw (chose him because he was in the complex where I was working) pulled my blood for lipase and amalyse testing, and I had acute, severe pancreatitis, and my mother died of pancreatic cancer, which is hereditary (they always ask these questions in your opening paperwork) - more morons.

I was checked out completely for gall bladder and because it showed no stones, so they wouldn't do anything.  So I had to drop this new doctor and move on.

TWO YEARS LATER, I finally took myself to a surgeon who said, you need your gall bladder our ASAP, based on my verbal SYMPTOMS of pain (I love im).  He removed my gall bladder which was biopsied and it was acute choleysistis (sp), no stones.  This is an INFECTED, INFLAMED gall bladder.  We suffer from a disease that causes INFLAMMATION.

These clowns have no idea what they see or what is wrong - take a deep breath - unfortunately RA is systemtic and does hit internal organs - but let's say its what I had (I am just thinking, here not diagnosing) - it might explain alot of your other symptoms.

GOOD LUCK, you will be fine.  I felt GREAT once that stupid infected inflammed gall bladder was removed, and my pancreas went back to normal, it was overloaded.  Still didn't get RA diagnosis for another 2 years.  Take care Cathy
Sorry they left you in the dark to worry bubba! Good luck with getting a quick appointment to put your mind at ease.

24 years ago my bad gallbladder was me being a nervous new mother- haha
I suffered for five years with off and on pain and nausea without ever finding out what was wrong. It took a middle of the night visit to the ER (thinking I was having a heart attack)  to get a diagnosis of gall bladder disease.  I had it removed a few days later and have been fine ever since.  Don't wait....get it out if needed.  I even got a bonus of getting my umbilical hernia fixed at the same time.  Please don't fear the surgery,  it's nothing to worry about.
