which pain med works best for you? | Arthritis Information

While I'm waiting for this new plan to work (sulfasalazine/plaquenil/naturals) I'm having a hard time finding a pain med that works and that I can take continuously.  Ultram works okay but the way he called it in, insurance will only cover it every 3 weeks even though its only a 2 week supply. (he wrote to take one and he told me to take 2 which is the only way it works)  I'm going to need him to call in something else but before I call wondered if you guys had any suggestions.Have him rewrite the script so it says 2 at a time, 3-4 times a day if it works for you.  Even if insurance won't cover it, tramadol (Ultram) is cheap. If the Ultram is working for you, I would do as Jas says.  I wouldn't look for another pain med until you have to, in other words when the one you've been prescribed isn't giving you some relief.  However if "works okay" means it just barely takes the edge off and still leaves you suffering, let your doctor know.  He may prescribe the extended release version to keep the pain cycle from starting up again, or he may suggest something stronger like opioids (for example, hydrocodone/Vicodin).Lodene (Etodolac-generic version)worked great for me in the bast. My RD always recommend Tylenol over-the-counter.
