I was in my PCP's waiting room yesterday when I picked up the July 2008 issue of Good Housekeeping (the one with Julia Roberts on the front and a yellow background).  I noticed a really interesting article that I just had time to skim, but I thought I'm mention it here.  Unfortunately I couldn't find it anywhere online (because I wanted to post the link).

On page 119, "The Story That Can Change Your Life" by Louisa Kamps is about the stories we tell, everything from the important successes and crises, to the everyday "someone cut me off in traffic".  She explains that how we tell these stories shapes and is shaped by our identity.  Sometimes the stories we tell portray us as the hero and other times the victim.  I thought that was especially true for those of us with health issues.

As I was searching for the article online, I came across this related blog that gives some good information:

Interesting article.  Inspiring stories are always helpful.

Also like your Plato quote.

I agree with the author of that article- it's a good read.  A pretty good story I agree... how we tell our tale says alot about us..

and how we feel, definitely directs how we tell our stories.....

kind of a round robin..... catch 22 thing.......

it is what it is because it is what it is........
