I am fludding the bed with sweating.

I wake up smelling of salt and my hair is soaked and i have to change clothing in the middle of the night because of how wet I am.

It's driving me nuts.
Heres what I did when I was getting them. First I would baby powder myself down on my chest and back. I put a sleeveless t shirt on under my pj top. When I woke up drenched I took the t shirt off, added more powder and put my pj top back on. wanttobeRAfree2008-07-24 16:20:00

are these meno sweats.. or RA sweats?

meno sweats... I had layers of covers that I could kick off or pull on as needed...   though I will admit a few times getting out of bed... and getting in the shower to cool off!!
wantto's idea of powder is a good one!

RA sweats ......> go away when my meds are working for me... like now.
I don't know how old you are, could you be going into menopause? When I did I have hot flashes waking me up, could feel them coming from my neck over the top of my head and felt like my head had flames coming off of it. Hormones helped a whole lot! There are many things associated with night sweats..... could you be running a lil fever? NIght sweats are associated with TB, which I hope to heck you don't have, and could be like others have said, the RA is doing it. I like the powder idea too.  The people who make monistat, can't recall their name, but they have a tube of stuff that when you rub it on it turns into a silky powdery feel, that could be helpful too. Main thing is, if this is a new symptom for you, call the doc. Hope it stops soon. :)I was tested for TB and don't have it.  I am 36 and was told no mental pausing early here from my obgyn :)

I have been fighting it off and on since i was diagnosed 3yrs ago, but it has been daily for a while this past week.
bubba, it sounds like you are purging for some reason, that's what sweating is all about, getting rid of something in the body through the skin pores.  Be sure to be drinking alot of electrolytes, like gatorade, etc.  Do you ph test strip?  You can buy these kits at pharmacies and health food stores.  Use one in your mouth, and another in your urine, it's interesting to track the difference.  It just sounds like your body wants to get rid of something and when its finished, it will rebalance.  But the lost of the salts and water is of concern.  Keep us informed.  Take care ~~ Cathyjust remembered this.. something my GYN told me.. She said if you're anxious.. you'll have strong hot flashes.. and more often..

I have noticed that to be true...

also that certain foods can bring it on as well... hot spicy foods... caffeine...and sometimes wine/alcohol..

I hope this ends for you.. I know how uncomfortable it will make you feel.

Hi Bubba, sorry you are going through this, I had those for a while when my hormones were out of whack and they are awful.  It says here that anti-depressants can cause night sweats, might be something to ask your doctor about. I have night sweats and daytime sweats several times a day, all the time.  Very similar to what I experienced during menopause (relieved by hormones) but I finished menopause ten years ago, so I assume now it's all RA and/or Lupus.  Funny that while it feels like I am feverish, I don't seem to have a temperature.

Recent Rituximab treatment (second round of infusions since November) seems to have helped with some RA/Lupus problems, but not the sweating.  I hate it.
