i am trying methrotrexate inj. for the first time, im a little scared what to expect can someone give me insight to how i am going to feel

It's a little bit nerve racking but you'll get through it. Just remember to pinch the skin around where you're going to inject so it doesn't hurt as much and is easier for you, and don't hit a vein! That could make you feel sick. The nurse that taught me how to do it said to pinch the skin, count to three and then poke it in and when you poke it in breathe out, then push the fluid down, count to three again, and then take it out.

Hope that helps!

I will be having my third Methotrexate injection 7.5mg on Thursday at hospital under the supervision of a rheumatology nurse. I took Mtx pills for three years but because of stomach problems was switched to the injections. I have found it a lot easier than I thought it would be to do the injection, but I have not done one on my own yet.

I have not felt any ill effects from the injections and according to the nurse you get the full benefit from the injection,  some people only benefit from 25% of the pills the rest is taken out by the gut and the liver.

Hope it all goes well for you.

Pat
