lorrie2008-11-23 23:10:53HI, I'm bored too. Do you have any exciting plans for the weekend?Well at least you gave me a little something to read!
Enjoy your weekend lorrie!
No CinDee not a thing...I'll call my mom for our weekly phone chat- she's 1200 miles away. Then I'll probably just hang by the pool. How about you?No, I just am planning on getting some help around the house. It needs a good cleaning. Son is bailing hay and daughter is working so it looks like hubby and I. He's a good cleaner!Do you own a farm? My husband cleans our house because he works at home and I work full time outside and part time keeping his books and doing all his clerical work for his business in the evenings. He cleans OK but not like me. However....it's easier to clean up what you are not satisfied with then to have to do it all yourself so I don't complain. I have also learned to live with lower standards. No we don't own a farm but neighbor a few miles down the road does. My son works for them and loves it! Grandparents have lots of farmland and a cousin is farming it but I betcha my son will end up with it when they pass. I'm glad he's into farming. Good, hard, honest work. There for a while he was wanting to join marines and I was worried. Now he wants to be a farmer. He's 15 and just got his driving permit. He has driven so many tractors, semis, kabotas, four wheelers, and back hoes. He's learned alot (and so have I). He educated me. I always thought a cow was a cow. Didn't know what a heifer was. LOL
I like your weekend plans better....swimming sounds good to me!
My father in law farmed potatoes for many years. He's gone now. We live on a farm that we do not farm- it's the house my husband grew up in. Surrounding us right now is soybeans. My youngest son is 16 and he just got his driving permit. He has had his required 6 hrs. paid behind the wheel driving. Now my husband will have to drive around with him because I'm too nervous. What do you mean by his required 6hrs paid? IN IL they just passed a law that all kids have to take driver's ed at school, take the test and pass, they parents have to drive with them for 50 hours, 10 of which at night. My son Jer has to keep a log sheet. It has time, conditions (sunny, rainy, etc) and the amount of time. He had to take the course in summer school because he wouldn't have enough time to get all the time in.
I'm surrounded by corn and cows. We also have a garden. The sweet corn is ripe and man it's good! I also froze (so far) 9 and a half quarts of green beans. I hope to feel well enough to get some corn frozen too. OH AND, I had my first ripe tomatoe! I love them!

In NJ the kids have a choice. They can hire a driving school to give them 6 hrs of behind the wheel driving. (Have to have passed Drivers Ed in school and the written test first). If they do that they may then at 16 drive with an adult and on their 17th birthday take the road test for their license. Or they can wait until their 17- get their permit and then they have to drive with an adult for 6 months before they can take the road test and get their license.

Yummy nothing beats the tenderness and sweetness of fresh picked corn. When the farmer grows corn here it is of the animal feed type. :( I am waiting for the Jersey tomatoes!!!! None yet!
On late to check posts, but can't join in as I'm ready for bed now.   Bad timing on my part.   I think I need to add a stop to a fresh produce stand tomorrow as one of my errands - the fresh sweet corn and tomatoes sound good !!

Hope you both have a great weekend.
Thanks Cathy- you too!The first time we drove with Jer, he was driving us to dinner. Hubby let me sit in front and Jer had the car in reverse and I turn around and my hubby had one leg in the car and was trying to hop in. I yelled "WHOA JER". Then we got to laughing. He's a big bull sh*tter and was making jokes about dad's life policy.. Then we got to restaraunt (alive) and he starts to get out but the car was in reverse not park. AGAIN, I yell "whoa Jer". We got to laughing again. We walked in and his driver's ed teacher was at the restaraunt and we were laughing and told him what Jer did. Teacher said "Jer, were you asleep during that chapter?" At least he did better than his older sister. First time she drove my new van she backed into hubby's truck. No damage on truck but broke out my taillight. She started crying. I calmed her down and said these things happen but be aware of your surroundings. No wonder my hair is turning grey. LOLI think you have nerves of steel! It took my daughter 4 times to pass her driving test! She's the reason I couldn't get in the car with either of my son's LOL! I drove with her the other week for the first time in years. She's good now and calmly drives in city situations which scare the crap out of me.no, I was hungry! lol I'm hungry now...I just had a handful of cheese it's and I could eat the whole box....Well, I just spilled my freshly iced filled glass of water all over me, the dog, the floor and everywhere. I picked it up to take a drink and it jumped out of my hand. Cheese n grits! I hate it when that happens! My hands were throwing things all yesterday LOL! I hate when they get a mind of their own!Good night all- I'm spentLuckily, the laptop stayed dry but the dog got it good! Now she's mad at me and is lying on hubby's lap as he sleeps. My hands have been doing that alot lately. I am afraid to go shopping and pick up something. Today at the store I knocked off a bunch of boxes of cereal when I reached for my shredded wheat. I picked them up and put them back. It was embarrassing but I lived through it.Our kids get their learners at 18 and have to have 200 hours behind the wheel before they can go for their probationary licence.  It makes for a lot of parent time in the car.Nitey Night, Wanttobe, sweet dreams!

Pammy: that much driving is crazy. I wish the government would chip in or give the kids a discount on gas so we can afford to let him get his hours in. Yeah, right, that would be the day. LOL
My bed is calling to me too. Night all.Hi Cindee! I am usally available for chit-chat. I an bored too. Email any time or send PM.
