Tendonitis anyone? | Arthritis Information

Hi All!

I just wondering if anyone has recurring tendonitis and what do you do for it. Over the last six months I have had tendonitis somewhere. It started with my left shoulder, then my right hip, left hip, then right shoulder back to left shoulder and now left elbow. I've been to physical therapy for the hips and the doctors gives me cortisone shots for the shoulders. Unfortunately once one area seems to get better it pops up somewhere else. My RD doesn't seem to think its a big deal. I am beginning to think it is a big deal because I'm so uncomfortable especially when I try to go to sleep.

Is this common with RA? I'll continue doing the PT and icing  etc... but just don't understand why it's not going away. I used to get tendonitis when I was younger and in a physically demanding career and it would always go away with proper treatement. This bout now that I have the RA just won't quit. I'm so frustrated

Thanks for the help!
I hate it and get it oftenThanks for the replies. I feel better than I'm not alone in this but discouraged that it sounds like this is yet another RA "thing" I'm going to have to get used to. I get it fairly regular also. It is what prompted me to go to doctor in the first place where they diagnosed me with RA.
Its extremely painful, and I have trouble controlling the pain most times (pain killers don't seem to touch it). Anyone any suggestions?
It only ever lasts about 12 -24 hrs at a time so no point going to docs.
It does seem to me to be an RA thing.  Besides the tendonitis inflammation (which I have in various tendons sometimes too), it can also destroy the tendon.  My Achilles tendon ruptured last November, "for no reason."  Actual reason was RA of course.   In this citation, they call the situation "rare."  I say, ha!

Wow Cat that sounds horrible. Did you end up having surgery for the rupture? Are you better now?
I can't decide which is worse right now - the tendonitis or the joint pain. Between the two I sure have had to slow down. I keep hoping the tendonitis will just go away but it seems to be getting progressively worse. Oh well- it is what it is I guess.

I wish I had some suggestions for you Jay77. My RD (my decision too) has me off pain-killers right now due to a bad reaction I recently had on one. I use ice to kind of numb the area and that helps a little. You can get cortisone shots but my experience has been that they don't help that much. I hope that you get to feeling better soon.
I just posted for the first time this morning with a question about achillies tendonitis thats where i have it. I have been hobbling around now for weeks and am just misrable. Nothing seems to relieve it. If I rest it then it gets stiff if stand alot and move around it gets agravated and swells and turns red. Ice and heat alternate heat feels food. I know I have been attacked in my shoulders and elbows and it hurts but when it affects your walking sticks it just plain hurts to move around.
