OT (??) - itching all over the place! | Arthritis Information

I have been extremely itchy ever since coming home from the local fair.  Hands, feet, face, head.  I didn't go into any of the animal exhibits; I wasn't in the sun for more than 45 minutes (same as any other summer day) and I don't know what else I could have come in contact with.  I spent most of the time inside the buildings looking at exhibits and chatting with people. I also have a wicked bad headache, but no wheezing, sneezing or runny nose/eyes.  Very odd!  I'm trying to go to sleep but I can't stop itching.  I just popped some benadryl; maybe that will curb the desire to scratch my flesh off.

I know that hydroxychloroquine can make you more sensitive to the sun, but I really don't think that's the problem here.  In the summertime, my co-workers and I are outside quite a bit - probably up to an hour a day.  In fact, we frequently hold informal meetings outside if it's nice out - our building is kept way too cold, and we'll step outside for 20 minutes or so to discuss test plans, or issues we've run across in testing.  Getting away from the system for a few minutes often helps us step back and think about what we're doing wrong (or more frequently, what the developers have done wrong!!!).

I sometimes break out in hives for no known reason - one time it happened on Easter Sunday while I was watching The Ten Commandments.  By the next morning it had gotten worse, so I went to see my doctor.  The whole office erupted in laughter when I told them I broke out in hives from watching The Ten Commandments.  I was a devout heathen at the time. UGH - still itching; benadryl hasn't done anything!  And it was a 50-mg liquigel capsule.  Surely it has dissolved and gotten absorbed by now!  And my head still feels like there is an angry man running around inside it waving a machete.

GRRRR.
Do you have any hydrocortizone cream or maybe take a cool bath? Have you tried any new soap, shampoo, laundry det., etc? Do you have a rash or just itching?

Just trying to help you. Maybe take another benedryl you can take them every 4 hours.???
Do you have any hydrocortizone cream or maybe take a cool bath? Have you tried any new soap, shampoo, laundry det., etc? Do you have a rash or just itching? LOL too funny about watching Ten Comm. I hope the 2nd dose does the trick and knocks you out so at least you can sleep. It's crazy.....I take in the day time and get drowsy but at night, it makes me stay awake. I'm backwards. LOL
LOL too funny about watching Ten Comm. LOL - the same tends to happen to me.  The wonderful Benadryl Buzz.  I have Lunesta which I take occasionally for sleeplessness (I won't take any tonight with the benadryl!!!) but if I don't lay down and turn the lights off right away after taking it, it just makes me slap-happy and then I can't go to sleep!

My dad gets goofy with benadryl too.  When he was in the hospital for his open heart surgery, he was stuck in ICU for a day before they could do the surgery.  He was in alot of pain because they had just attempted angioplasty and he had to lay flat on his back for 6 hours afterwards, and he has 2 14" metal rods in his back.  I got ahold of the doctor and got him some Dialaudid and also told the doc that we needed a PRN for IV benadryl in case he got the Opiate Itch.  Well, the Dialaudid did not make him goofy, but of course the itching started, so they gave him the benadryl.  OMG he was hilarious.  He was telling himself jokes and cracking everyone up.Hope you are itch free today! How are you today, Jas??

Sounds like what my H gets when he's working in the yard... allergic to grass he is!

Jasmine,
Hope your itching has went away. You know maybe it was something you ate. I ate at a local fast food some years back and  something in the food made me itch all over. I blame it on the tacos because it was shortly after I finished eating I was one big itch head to toe. I was miserable for a day or two even with the benadryl.
Here's hoping you are itch free today.
How are you today, Jas?? SnowOwl  if you are allergic to ragweed hence the reaction from Milk ThistleI went through a period awhile back where I got itchy and what looked like psoraisis, but it all went away while on chemo. Immune system is a fickle thing. Well, I took more benadryl today, took another shower this morning, scrubbed down again with Aveeno body soap (the anti-itch stuff), got on a clean cotton nightgown, and went back to bed.  I just woke up.  I have some mild itching but nothing like what it was.  Very strange indeed!!!!

Oh another itching thing... does anyone else here get itchy when you get mad?  If I get really angry, I get itchy all over.  It's the weirdest thing!!!  And no, I was not mad last night.
Getting angry tends to put stress on you unless you throw one of those big anti-depressants at someone   Now I hate to bring a bad thing into this discussion but doesn't liver troubles cause extreme itching too?
Now I hate to bring a bad thing into this discussion but doesn't liver troubles cause extreme itching too?
Yea, but that's more of a chronic thing.  My occasional one-day itch fests seem to be allergic/irritant in nature.  I get liver enzymes checked every 3 months; never had an elevation.
Good- I didn't want it to be something bad for you.Could possibly be the Hydroxychloroguine as I am itching like crazy too. I get bouts of this then it calms down. I seems to be worse when the weather is hot.
It has made me photosensitive to the sun too. My skin gets a prickly sensation.

It's definitely on my list of topics for the rhumatologist visit this fall!
I use to itch on and off for no reason.  One time I had welts all over itching like mad.  After a couple days the ER gave me a shot, since we had no clue why.  The shot worked.  Made me shake like mad right away then I went home and slept for like 8 hours.

Woke up and all better.  It's weird.  Thank God *knocking on wood* I haven't had that.  I am also known to break out in welts and itch very bad from catching a cold.  It's like I am allgeric to the cold.

I sure hope things get better for you.  I have also soaked in a very warm tub to stop the itching.  Bad thing is when you get out it starts back.  It is no fun at all.  :(
You know jas, it could be coca cola
You know jas, it could be coca cola Actually Jas, I absolutely love coke too. I gave it up due to my weight but I had one today at lunch and it was soooo good.
Actually Jas, I absolutely love coke too. I limit it to one can per day, unless Aunt Flo is visiting.  She usually demands a couple cans of Coke.I was thinking and re-reading this and just thought maybe at the fair they had just finished mowing the grass somewhere and maybe that is the problem???
I love my 7UP!oh man, just reading this post has made me itch all over....LOL
I was thinking and re-reading this and just thought maybe at the fair they had just finished mowing the grass somewhere and maybe that is the problem??? Hmmmmm......well, I hope you are feeling better and this doesn't happen again at the fair. Our state fair is starting on Thursday. I hope I have a few days where I feel well and it's not too hot to go ck out the horse races and maybe place a bet or two.  I love the shrimp on a stick. Fair food is soooo goood! OH and those little donuts. Yum!
Hmmmmm......well, I hope you are feeling better and this doesn't happen again at the fair. Our state fair is starting on Thursday. I haven't been to the Illinois State Fair in years.  Sometimes we venture up to the Wisconsin State Fair, since it's right outside of Milwaukee.  We just didn't have time this year.
Well, I live about 20 miles from it and my sister lives blocks away. I grew up there. Dad and friends had horses they trained and groomed. Dad's friends still do it but sadly he passed away in 2002 so my sis and I go every year and bid on a horse for dad. It's amazing. We get a program and look for horses that have names and there was one name "Glassman" which was my dad's nickname. He installed auto glass for 33 years. We bid two bucks to win and won like .00! Then one was "FiveDaddy" or something like that. Well, dad had 5 girls. We bid on it and won some that time! We have an awesome time. If the weather cooperates.Jas, do you live in Milwaukee? My niece lives there. My sis and I went to visit her for the weekend. It's about 4 or 5 hours from me. She took us bar hopping. She's young like 25 and we went to this one place that AL Capone hung out (Man, can't remember the name) it was so cool! You had to know the password to get in. Wait, I have a glass from there. I got to ck. But there were hidden rooms and walls.  It's the Safe House.  The glass I had had 7 kinds of alcohol in it and I drank it all! LOL GOOD TIME!
Jas, do you live in Milwaukee? Nope - I'm in the Chicago suburbs, and Milwaukee is much closer than Springfield!  I'm probably going to go to Springfield sometime this fall to watch our elected idiots in action at the Capitol.  Yea, I know how to let loose and party!Well, don't expect to see the Governor in the capital city. He's always in Chicago.... maybe see if you can stay in the exec. mansion. No one else stays there. LOL That's a sore subject around here. I wouldn't mind living there if he doesn't want to. Believe me, it's a sore subject up here too.  I forget how many thousands it costs the taxpayers every day he flies back and forth to Springfield because he refuses to live there.  If I chose to move to Springfield, I don't think my employer would hire a private jet to fly me back and forth to work up here in the Chicago suburbs - especially if they provided a free house for me and the family just down the street from the office!!!Yep, with a heated driveway and full staff on call there all the time, cook, housekeeper, groundsperson, and who knows how many others. It's like the president not living in the white house. Have you seen the gov. mansion? It's really NICE! I can't remember if I've seen it or not - back in junior high school, we had a few trips to Springfield with the band, and we did lots of sightseeing.  I just can't remember what we saw!

And actually, I'd much rather see him get a room next to former Illinois governor George Ryan in prison.
