I spoke with the doctor's office today and they said my thyroid is functioning fine - & I am not near borderline. However my B12 is low so I am to start taking 1000 mcgs of B12 a day.

That doesn't sound like much of a dose.
Isn't being B12 deficient also an autoimmune problem?

Then I called back- can I get a shot I ask? I already take 12 pills a day Tues thru Sunday and 18 on Mondays- I don't feel like swallowing anymore. No- your levels are not low enough to warrant a shot.

Then after I hung up I thought- I should have asked for a copy of the report. I don't want to call back again and make a pest of myself.

Maybe I will call after hours and leave a message.
I'm not sure you'd want that in a shot.  I have a close friend that is B12 deficient who gets shots.  Those are intramuscular not subcutaneous, and according to my friend, really hurt.  Personally, I'd try the pills first.

Sorry you aren't feeling well.
With each pregnancy I would become anemic and required B12 shots. Ouchy! - they hurt. Well then I'm a lucky duck that I can swallow a pill! I am a big needlephob so I don't want any part of OUCHY ones!

Thanks for the warning!

I am also taking 1cc of b12 EVERY WEEK  lol I do the shots myself to save from going into the doctors office every week. I just put it in my upper arm ....Doesnt hurt at all

B-12 deficiency isn't an autoimmune disease..but it can be part of one.. pernicious anaemia..
watch yourself, wantto!!  take care.. take your vitamins!
Well... that is good news. better than you were thinking it was going to be, I bet!

Ahh... another pill to swollow... tomatoe, tomato.

I hate it when people say you're normal, or "not near the borderline."  Always make them give you the number.  For my situation, when I'm in the high normal...I'm high TSH.  LaLike doobgirl I do the shots at home also (well Mr. Lovie does them for me) and they don't hurt a bit. I do them in the fatty part of my arm and they don't hurt at all compared to Humira!! Lol.Took my first pill today- does it take long to start feeling results?I can tell a difference quickly with the shot; but I imagine the pills take longer to build up and it might be a difference over time. I don't know but I think the pill upset my stomach. It might have been that I took it on an empty stomach about 3 pm when I had nothing since 8 am this morning.
