Low B12 | Arthritis Information

I'm wondering just how many of you may have this too?

I have been blaming my fatigue on either my RA or taking MTX. I have other symptoms too that led me to go to the doctor for a thyroid test.

Come to find out thyroid is fine- B12 is low and I have to start taking 1000 mcgs a day.

So now I've been looking things up and I find out that certain drugs can deplete your B12. Guess what? MTX is one of them. Also Prilosec which I have to take every day to prevent tummy troubles.

Other symptoms of low B12 are depression (have been blaming my blue feelings on my pred taper), memory problems, difficulty thinking and concentrating- (blaming that on brain fog from RA or MTX), among other things.

I'm really hoping when I take the supplements these things go away. Also read that low B12 adversely affects the way your metabolism breaks down fats and carbs! Could this be part of my stubborn weight problem?
I have low B12 and take B12 injections. If your B12 is low oral supplements might not help. I have to take it by injections.

Mine was discovered by a neruologist after suffering with symptoms of numbness and tingling in my legs for about a year. Turns out I do have a form of neruopathy....but it's also caused by low B12. I can always tell when it's time for my injections because my legs will feel as if they are falling asleep when I sit or cross my legs. A B12 shot will lessen that symptom by about 95%.

I unfortunatly haven't found it to give me super energy like many others report....but it's definately made a difference for me.
well. heck, wanttobe... that's all my problems in a nutshell!!

for a totally unknown reason, except that I'm forgetful, I've been remiss w/ my vitamins..  I need to kick that back into gear.

Also.. I've read that sublingual B-12 is best.. I have a pill that I stick under my tongue first thing in the morning before anything (coffee, breakfast) and it's supposed to be best absorbed and utilized... IDK if that is so.. but that's how I take additional b-12.

eta: the right word!!
