Tendon swelling? | Arthritis Information

Ok, I am kinda sure that this is not RA, so... wanted to know what ya'll think it is.

You know I went "shopping" Friday and went to, what, 5 stores? Well, that night was fine nothing wrong. I woke up Saturday and was ok. Then Saturday night, 10pm, after we came home from the in-laws everything swelled!

I went into my room to get undressed and work on a card. Then I was sitting at my work table, trying to decide on what paper to use, and then all of a sudden the fingers on my left hand, started swelling! I mean I could actually feel my fingers filling with inflammation or fluid and get tighter and tighter. Then I tried to bend my fingers to see if it would make it better, but I could not even bend my fingers to touch my palm with the swelling they had.

My right hand was fine, skinny and bone like it had been since being on the pred flare taper.

I showed my husband my left hand because my left hand fingers turned white and to show him how odd it was that one hand swelled and the other did not. He just looked at me crazy and said "uumm hummm".

Then before I went to sleep. Everything was swelled and that is with taking 15mg of pred.

My left ankle it was swelled towards the back, like where the achilles tendon is. The swelling on my elbows was more to the outter side of my elbow, towards the fold of when you bend your arm. Then later around 3am my right elbow was swelled really bad to the point that just the weight of my arm made it feel like my joint was going to pop loose from the weight of the lower part of my arm.

I am thinking some of this was tendon swelling, because it was not in my joints like normally, it was around my joints and it was really painful.

So... how would you know if it was tendons swelling?

I should not have had the swelling to return this bad, and this fast, since I was on 15mg of pred. But there was also thunder storms, saturday too.

Sunday... I was doing well again. I had a little bit of swelling left over from, Saturday's fiasco, but I still felt almost new and still do.

Well... thanks for listening.
Joonie, I personally think it is tendon sheath swelling although I cant prove it and doctors wont agree.  I keep telling my doc that it isnt my joints in my swollen fingers that hurt, it is between all the joints.  My finger swelling has gone down since I read your post earlier and got my doc to give me a Medrol Pak, but I dont know what will happen when I finish it.  Glad youre almost new again hon
