Hi,
I am going to have anterior cervical fusion surgery
shortly. I understand there are two options to help the
spine fuse. You can either use a metal plate that is implanted or use a neck brace when the surgery is completed. I want to know if anyone has had experience with either and what that experience was. I need to decide what would be better for me.

Hi Irissg ~
Have you had surgery yet? I have had a total of 3 cervical fusions. Two were anterior and 1 was posterior. I am fused from C3-7 now.
If you want to talk more Iris please let me know and I will be here.

Hello Everyone, I am going to have a cervical fusion in a couple of weeks, C-4 C-5 and C-5 C6. I am worrying myself sick over a couple of things and would appreciate any help you can give.
I have hadf the cervical fusion surgery done. Mine are C5-C6.
Still need to have C4-C5 fused yet. I did the neck brace thing . I have
heard bad and good about the metal plate. I will tell you thou... If I
had to have the same surgery done again, I would do it in a heartbeat.
I had very sereve headaches. Which are gone now. Which ever way you
go...Good Luck to you!
Hi DayDreamer!
Thanks so much for responding to me. Can you remember
what the good and bad things were that you heard regarding the metal plate?
Looking forward to hear from you soon!
Iris Thanks to all of you for the comments on cervical fusion. I had the surgery (C5-6) last week and had only seen negative comments until this forumTessa, what kind of surgery did you have? I just had
fusion on C6-7 and had a titanium plate put in. I am finding
that sitting upright or being on my feet for too long really
hurts. I am down to taking my meds to maybe 2 times a day or more
if I am up too much.
How are you doing?
