OT: My Mommy Again | Arthritis Information

My mom had to have surgery again today, Tuesday. Her wound area was not doing like it should. It was to heal from the inside out, but hers was not healing right. They thought she had an infection, and took biopsies and no infection, but she is on IV anti-biotics still, just to make sure.

Also, she had a coughing spell that made her wires come loose again. So they had to repair them again. This time they moved some of her chest muscle over her sternum, in hopes that the pressure the muscle will apply will keep her sternum from moving as much and kinda cushion it when she coughs. The Dr said he hopes this will be the last time he has to replace her wires in her sternum.

My sister called me on her way up there, to tell me they were doing another surgery on our mom. So, I told her we would brough some money from his parents so I could be up there for when she gets out of recovery.

I did not get to see her until 10:00pm. She was groggy and thought she was fixing to go have the surgery. We had to tell her she already had it done.

Then she was telling us about that the skin graph they were going to use was coming off her butt. We all had a good laugh out of that.

Then she was complaining about this was the 3rd time they brought her food in to eat, only for them to take it away a few mins later because she was to have surgery. She said even a fly wanted her food.

I hope this is the last time she has to have surgery.

I felt a little better about leaving her this time. I still cried when I got out of her room, but it was more for all that she has been thru and is continuing to go thru. At least this time she did not look misrable, she looked like she was going to recover a little better this go around. Like all of her "kinks" were fixed finally.

She looked SO MUCH better. She even talked sentances and no more struggling to breathe. She even was upbeat and happy to see me! She has never seen me when she got out of her other surgeries. Just my other siblings.

So, THANK YOU for all your prayers. They are GREATLY appreciated and seem to be working.

I am going to head to bed... been really extra tired lately... and I will try to keep in on ya'll in the morning. Daughter starts school in the morning too! WOoohooo!!!
Lotsa hugs to you and your Mom Joonie.......and to your wee girl starting school! Always a special time, but hard for a Mom seeing them off for that first time I guess.

Cheers, and hope you are doing OK too.

sorry to hear about Mom, Joonie....   I hope she makes a fast recovery from all this.

Little girl is growing up, isn't she?

Hang in there dear..  take care of you.
Joonie, I am really sorry to hear about your mom.  Hopefully that was the last surgery for her.
Wow the kids down there start early!  Kelsay's first day of 1st grade is not till the 25th.  I'm gonna have a hard time w/ that one!
Joonie- I was hoping you'd been quiet because you were feeling good and keeping busy because of it. Sorry your mom had more complications! I think her turn is over now! I'll continue to keep her in my prayers.

Wow- I can't believe school is starting again already!
So sorry to hear your mom needed another surgery.  I was happy to hear that she looks and sounds so much better.  I'll keep your mom, you and your family in my thoughts and prayers...Hiking_galGlad you got to see her!!!!Joonie, I'm glad you got to see your mom. I will say a prayer that she recovers rapidly. My son starts school on the 19th. We just got him registered today and it was funny. When he was in 8th grade at graduation a teacher came up to us and said "Whew who!!! NO more Jeremy, oh how I'm gonna miss his antics!" Well Jer is now in 10th grade and they moved that teacher over to teach at high school and we got to see him today and joked with him. He grabbed Jeremy's class schedule and said "Whew, I don't have him!" Jer told principle he wanted his schedule changed so he could have Mr. Markus the teacher. Mr. Markus said (joking) "I quit, I'm not working here anymore!"> LOL we had a good laugh because I said to him "see that why you don't say some things because they come back and bite you on the ass!" LOL
I wish your mommy a speedy recovery, and you take care of yourself too!

Boy I hope there are no more bumps in the road for mom Joonie, She has used up her share for the rest of the year and even next... Keep taking care of Joonie and all will be grand!

Joonie. I'm so sorry your mom and you are going through a rough time right now. I hope she gets home very soon. Thanks for prayers and well wishes! My in-laws went and visited my mommy today. They said she looked good and was doing better, according to her ICU nurse.

So... hopefully she will be ready to come home next week? Not sure, will have to call my sister and see when they will release her.
