Here I go again... | Arthritis Information

Hi all, I haven't been around much this past month. I thought I would update you on my continuing saga...

I finished IV antibiotics the first week of July and switched to oral antibiotics for a month. I was able to resume my ra meds mid-July.   Last week I went for what I thought would be my last meeting with the infectious disease doctor. Well, I thought wrong. Apparently, now I have osteomyelitis (an infection in the bone) where my back surgery took place.

Great about the meningitis!  And this might be a blessing in disguise.  My bro has something like that in his back and was on antibiotics for a year.  I think he dodged a bullet with getting an AI disease.

Hugs,

Pip

Edited to say "probiotics, probiotics, probiotics!"
Pip!2008-08-07 20:31:52I am sorry, you are still have problems. I guess you are like me, this year just was not my year to get fixed up. Maybe next year will be our year!

Much hugs to you! And hope no more set backs after this last round.
I'm glad it wasn't mennengitis, but holy cow, you have had more than your share girlie. I hope things get better and better for you and you can end this summer on a high note and enjoy fall and winter.
Hugs sweetie!
Deb
What a saga for you. Good thing about the meningitis, that's a silver lining! I hope your biopsy goes well on Monday, I'll be thinking of you!

Shine on~

oh.. so good about the menningitis... but UGH about the infection..

sorry you have to stop your RA meds again..

Hopefully, you will get through this with little problems and get back on track!!
ENOUGH!  Time for you to get better-sending prayers that it happens real soon! Hang in there!I'm sorry you're having such a rough go of it. I hope that all this clears up quickly (quickly and ostomyelitis don't go together, I know), well as rapidly as it can and your back to normal soon. Great news about the meningitis. Hang in there :)I sorry for all your misery. Sending my praers your way. Many hugs to youWhoa good luck with the osteomylitis. I hope when they biopsy it, they will culture it as well. Perhaps they can get you on the right stuff from the beginning. So sorry to hear of your complications but glad to hear it wasn't meningitis.  My prayers and thoughts are with you!  Hiking_galThanks for all the kind comments. Just to clarify my post... I DID have meningitis originally which started shortly after my second back surgery. They never were able to identify the bacteria that caused it because I started antibiotics early into it which made the culture unclear. So after 6 weeks on antibiotics, there is no meningitis to be found...which of course is a good thing cuz bacterial meningitis is not something I want to experience ever again.

Pip, I 'm not sure what they are putting me on this time. I know one of them will be the same as last time, and then a new one. I will find out on Monday and update. And, yes, I am on board with the probiotics! I do hope this turns into a blessing in disguise. I believe I am due.

Thanks very much for the support everyone!

Dawn
