numb foot....? | Arthritis Information

Hi all....this may sound like a silly question and it may not be related at all to RA but I just noticed this and thought I would throw it out there. I've noticed that when I sit down cross legged, my right leg always gets numb within a couple of minutes. This never used to happen. I would only get pins and needles once in awhile, but now I have to keep stretching out my leg and rubbing my foot when I'm sitting on the floor. Does anyone else notice this or is it perhaps just totally not related?

Thanks, Brit

No question is silly.  I have had questions that I thought were silly and when you see other people have the same thing, you realize that you are not the only one.

My foot is numb from the middle to the outside.  Half of my leg from my knee down is numb also.  I posted on rafriends.com and touched a little on this because I also get leg spasms/cramp/foot contracture.  ALL OF THESE SYMPTOMS TOGETHER immediately followed my hip flare on that side that was extremely painful.  I can't sit on the floor either because of the same kind of symptoms you have.  I may have pinched a nerve in the hip area from the flare and since then my symptoms have never gone away (2 years ago). I guess I rambled on about that.

I had a terrible problem a couple years ago with numb feet. They were sort of tingling and numb, and it really scared me...

Then one day I looked at my shoes. I was wearing slip on tennis shoes with elastic across the instep... lo and behold I snipped the elastic. and the numbness ended...reminds me of the joke about the guy with migraines...

Don't cross your legs that way..

I was having the same problem not too long ago. I take MTX and have been taking it for more than three years now. When I started having this numbing issue my RD said lets go ahead and start the Folic Acid. I didn't want to take it before that because it was really just for the MTX side effects, which I didn't really have...so I didn't want to take it if I didn't have to.

Anyway; for the most part my problems gone. Go figure.
