Gabapentin question | Arthritis Information
I am taking gabapentin for the shingles pain.
in the past week I have become hysterically irritable, angry, more depressed and just miserable. Is this a side effect?
I am already depressed to begin with but this is awful..
anyone else on neurontins?

So sorry that you are having a rough time. Neurontin is a very serious drug with lots of side effects. I just got off of neurontin and had the most horrible withdrawal from it. I had extreme panic attacks, night sweats, muscle pain, migraines and depression. At first my PCP told me it couldn't be the drug but after a week of my being in misery both he and my RD admitted that it was definitely withdrawal from the drug. (this is after I tapered off of it for over two weeks). I will never take it again. But a lot of people have good success with it - I'm just not one of them. Try googling neurontin or gabapetin and your side effects and you'll find out lots of info about it.
I really hope you are feeling better soon. It would be a good idea to call your doctor too and let them know how you are feeling.
Kathy, gabapentin caused me to become quite nasty and very irritable, i also got very depressed, I came off of it, I hope you get it sorted soon.
