OJ Craving | Arthritis Information

Ok... so last few days been craving OJ again. First day I tried not to give in and hoped it would pass. The 2nd day I gave in and HAD to have it. I drank it and just about drank the whole carton before I got enough of it. Then I finished that carton the same night as getting it and MIL called to see if we needed anything from wal-mart. I said yeah more OJ! I drank half of that carton of OJ that same night.

So I drank 1 1/2 cartons of OJ in one day!

I have been trying to figure out why I would be craving OJ, because some of you say I have a pattern going on, but I cannot think or see why I would want OJ.

Unless it is because I am flaring and more joints are inflammed now?

I do not know.

Stumped. Will add it to my growing list of questions for Dr's LOL!

That is what happened with my dad and he had diabetes.  He drank OJ like crazy.  He would finish 1 carton and go to get another.  His blood sugar was crazy high.  Have you had you blood sugar checked recently?

Maybe you should let the doc know now.
Hey Pam! Long time no see.

Yeah, I have had the blood tests ran for diabetes. Said I was not diabetic. They ran it to rule it out for my rapid pulse problem and because I have been on pred for so long.

Thank you for your reply! Peach schnapps with your OJ?  That to me sounds good....Maybe there is some vitamin in it that you are deficient in?...more research needed on that one, I am just taking a guess. I drink about 14 oz of pulp-filled OJ every morning.  Yum.  I crave it, not that much though!  Hope you figure it out...I crave OJ at times..but it hurts my tummy.Joonie its great you crave OJ and not something more sinister!!!  Its full of vitamins so cant be that bad for you although I know its not good for the teeth apparently. I am assuming you drink real OJ not the nasty ' full of other stuff' stuff??
I have 2 Meyer lemon trees and eat a couple of them every day as well as grapefruit off another tree most of the year. Wish I were in the States and I could send you all boxes of lemons.....there are so many and they rot on the ground. Shame. Have you checked your iron level?

When iron is low, sweets are craved.  You can crave candy, doughnuts or even fruit juices like oj.
I think it may be because you have vitamin C deficit. I was craving lemons and could it them without anything. When I start taking vitamins I could not even look on lemons without grinning my face.Joonie, maybe you are pregnant?   I think it is a vitamin C deficiency too.  I can just see you drinking in the middle of the night in the dark....how funny!!!I must have vitamin B (beer) and vitamin C (caffeine) deficiency... I get cravings for Sam Adams and Coca-cola.
I've been craving raspberry juice.  So good.  Must be the sugar.
