Question about MRI Report | Arthritis Information

I know this is a weird question but has anyone ever had an MRI and found that not everything was reported?  Is that common?

I was given a CD with all the images when I had an MRI of my thoracic spine last week.  I’ve had past problems in my cervical neck, so I recognized a lot of things on the images.  However, when the report came, it only listed the two disc bulges which I can see on the images, but nothing else.  I know I'm not a professional, but I'm pretty sure of the problems there that aren't reported.

what did the request for the MRI ask for?  was the radiologist asked to evaluate the cervical spine? The MRI was for the thoracic spine because of mid-back pain.  Years ago, I had problems with my cervical spine and my doctor at the time was very good at showing me my MRI images and explaining what was going on.  That's why I know when looking at my thoracic images that there were some things not listed. kweenb2008-08-15 14:49:41well any mri or x'ray can be misread...will your own doctor review the MRI

No, she only looks at the report.

ask her to request a review of the read...
Gee kweenb you are feeling uneasy- do you also feel bad in these areas you think they did not address?  I know it's an uncomfortable situation to question someone who is supposed to have expertise in the subject but if your gut is telling you something was missed please bring it up.WTB,

The pain is in the exact place.  There is almost total loss of disc space at T12-L1.  It wasn't even on the report.  I kept thinking that this was mentioned somewhere before in my medical history.  I got to digging in my papers last night and found an old chest x-ray report from 5 years ago.  On the report, there is an incidential note that says "marked disc space narrowing in one of the lower thoracic intervertebral disc spaces with spurring and eburnation of the end plates."   This sounds like it's what I'm seeing on the MRI images.

I'm sorry for whinning.  I'm just tired of it all.  Its so painful in the mornings and evenings and any time I try to do anything physical, I almost can't handle it.  Then when your MD's nurse acts like there shouldn't be anything wrong with you because your MRI says you are fine, I just want to cry.  I've been doing so well on the Enbrel, I was looking forward to some looooooooooong pain-free days.  Guess not.

I feel like some of the people on this board have felt when they are dismissed by their doctors because the blood tests are negative and they hurt.

I'm sorry.  I'm truly done whinning now.
kweenb - I have several MRIs/CT scans/x-rays of the same area with findings for the first report not reported on the second, including previous broken bones, surgical artifacts suddenly missing  - its all subjective by the doctor reading the report and what they want to put down for the recommendations.  This is the only part your doctor takes any action over.
