I was going to say I have been on Enbrel now for 3 weeks ..I seem to be less stiff than before and thus far have no side effects...Hope my luck continues ..Does it (Enbrel) work better with time or is it more noticeable when one first takes it? I understand that is/can be different with each person ..but in general is there a consenses? I would welcome any thoughts here..

Thanks
Russ
I think for me it was a gradual change over a month or two, noticed it most when the fatigue seemed to lift.   It's stayed pretty steady since then.    I've been on enbrel since Aug 07, so not much history to report on.     Hope it works well for you.

I love my Enbrel.

I started Enbrel on 12/27/2007.  Three weeks after I started it, I had to stop because I developed an upper repiratory infection.  When I started back up on Enbrel, I was still taking prednisone from the horrible flare I got while off of Enbrel and MTX during the infection.

So, I can't really attest to how long it took to take effect since prednisone is like "heaven in a little white pill" for me.  But, I can tell you that I haven't had any horrible flares since I started taking it again in late January/early February.  Every now and then I get some moderate aching right before I'm supposed to take my shot, but I'm fine the day after I take it.

I even did a slow withdrawal from my MTX and have been totally off it for several months.  I hope you have the same great results.
Hi.
I started enbrel in April and had to stop twice for little infections... but have been on steadily for 6 weeks now... I love it.  I feel better and have alot more energy... My stiffness is still w/ me in the mornings and over long periods of inactivity.. but I hope to have that reduce more as time goes on...
I have been told that when you have to stop it.. sometimes it takes longer to get back to where you"were"
Good luck to you.. I hope it brings you great relief!!
I took Enbrel for almost eight years and it was the best drug I've been on.  Finally, quit in January of this year as it stopped being effective.  I noticed vast improvement after first injection, but it is different for everyone.   The only side effect I had (that I'm aware of) was that my skin became more sensitive, but nothing that made me stop.  GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!

Hi Wizzie

I was expecting Enbrel to take a long time to kick in (say 3 months) but within a week I was feeling really good and I thought "this is it baby!!" and I couldn't believe how well I felt.   But I started not to feel so good again within another couple of weeks, and then my improvement has been gradual over the past year (I started Enbrel in July last year).  Rheumy is now extremely happy with blood results and I am reducing Pred.

I noticed the day after my shot that my energy was up and I hardly had any stiffness in the morning. I have been taking it for 8 months now and still feel pretty good. I still have pain/stiffness during humid weather/rain but nothing like before. I feel it starting to wear off a couple of days before my shot is due. I haven't had any side effects.
best wishes to you and I hope it kicks RA's butt!
take care
Thanks to all of you for your post and well wishes ..I do hope for me this does make life a bit easier ....One of my biggest reasons for going on Enbrel was not so much a pain issue which I really didn't know how much I was in till the Enbrel "kicked in" ..but the main reason is to try to slow down the deterioration in my hands and fingers...my left hand is really curving out on me ...I at soon to be 48 being a mechanic by trade am facing looking at something else to do as my hands and fingers are key elements in what I do ...but I figured out a while back with this I must take one day at a time....This forum has really helped me understand more and get support from others who suffer from this also .....

MY SINCERE THANKS to all of you wonderful folks here...

I am really glad to hear about the positive results many of you have had with enbrel. I'm going to be starting it soon and after years of trying plaquenil and later methotrexate, and not seeing any results, I was beginning to believe that nothing would help.
