Jan/Feb. 2008 Arthritis today magazine and page 64.
Whole article dedicated to these meds, but the last part on the bottom of the page under the heading Research Breakthrough's is entitled Making Safer Corticosteroids and says;
Fewer sleep disruptions. A new formulation of prednisone designed to be taken at bedtime starts working after a four hour delay, preventing problems falling asleep-a common and frustrating side affect of current medications-and also ensures the dose is working fully first thing in the morning, when joints may be particularly stiff. This innovative drug may be available later this year.
Then under sub-heading Safer Bones...it says;
New Arthritis Foundation-funded reearch from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta may lead to a way to overcome the bone-depleting effects of corticosteroids, Researchers there have discovered a protein called GILZ, for short, that may stop inflammation as effectively as tradional corticosteroids, while building bone. GILZ helps bone marrow stem cells turn into bone-forming cells.This is so positive! Wow!!
