RA and Poison Ivy | Arthritis Information

Every year I seem to get poison ivy. We spend alot of time at the cottage and I am aware that it is around..but I try not to go near it.  I am wondering if the immune suppresent drugs make one more susceptible? I get it eveywhere, including my face.

its not the drugs in this case..the rash casused by poison ivy is due to an allergic reaction to the urushiol oil in the plant.  More than 5o% of humans are allergic to this...some more than others

I have poison ivy near some trees in my back yard.  Frankly, it has been pointed out to me but I cannot pick it out on my own.  I mow next to it and always have.  I have never had a reaction.  Funny, since I think I am allergic to just about everything else.  I can name two other people I know that do not have RA and they get violent reactions to poison ivy.
