No stamina | Arthritis Information

I have been walking 30 mins a day 3 x per week since early June. It really fatigues me! Not heart wise but my legs feel so tired and overworked the whole time. Basically the whole walk is on level ground but it feels as if I'm on an incline. I used to have muscular legs but now they have no muscle tone.

I also feel physically tired afterward like I could take a nap.
I really have to force myself to do this. The whole time I am walking I feel like sitting on the curb. Today I felt like laying down on the side of the road LOL! It's really not funny my walks seem like they are getting harder instead of easier- I just don't get it. I made the mistake of wearing a little higer heel than I'm used to at work and then after my lunch time walk my hips, knees and ankles really felt like crap.
So sorry wantobe, i feel like that too. Life can be a pain in the ass ya know and some people feeel the grips of it all. I suppose we just suck it up and continue with the life we have left. Loves and hug to youWTBF, I've been walking also and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.  Because of my weight I think the tiredness has to do with a decrease in  pulmonary function and some slight shortness of breath.  I'm hoping as I lose weight that the sob will disappear.

I'm really happy to hear you're walking and I hope you continue; I know that I am.  I do make sure that I wear my walking shoes each time.  Lindy
wanttobe, have you had bloodwork done recently? I had mine done in the hosp. and they found my B-12 wasn't being absorbed and ordered injections I do myself. It's once a day for a week, then once a week for a month, then monthly. I feel like i could run a marathon the morning after my shot. Just an Idea...

I am the same way...... I can gather NO stamina at all..  nothing seems to give me more energy.. and every exercise is wearying....

Lin B not only do I wear my walking shoes but I have brought a pair of shorts and top to change into at work before I go. Somehow it makes me feel like I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing. Walking in a dress stunk.

Owie- I have not had bloodwork since they found my B12 to be low. I have been taking 1000 mcgs daily for at least 2 or 3 weeks with no improvement. I had initially asked for the shot when they prescribed pills but my GP was on vacation and the receptionist said no your levels are not low enough. I may call today and speak to the doctor.

It's so hard to perservere when you feel this tired and are getting no result.......

oh yeah- do you think our muscles are wasting away because of the RA?adrenalin.....   hmmmmmmmmmYes I had lost so much muscle tone this past winter I could hardly stand.  My husband got me a stationary bike and a stepper and since I've been using them I notice the muscles are starting to come back in my legs.   I wish I could walk but it's too much for my feet.  If walking is too much you might try the bike.  I still need to work on the muscles in my arms.  They are weak also.Well I pushed myself through another 30 min walk at lunch today. Everytime I felt like I was doing it all for naught I told myself Sno says it's for your health. Forget that you want to lose weight- it's just for your well being....I complained of fatigue and my rheumy didn't think it was related to RA at all.  He asked if I had my thyroid checked and sure enough, I have hypothyroidism.  Did you have that checked recently?Yes Goldie I did by my GP. She said my symptoms sounded like thyroid or B12 deficiency so she checked for both. Thyroid was fine but I am B12 deficient. I have been taking 6000 mcgs of B12 for a little over 2 weeks now with no result.Maybe it's the meds. I know when I was on MTX it zapped the energy out of me. I am now on Enbrel with no MTX and feel fantastic. I workout strenuosly like when I was in my twenties.

Also know that the less active you get the harder it is to come back. If possible try working out at a different time if possible. I know my blood sugar levels play a huge role on how my workouts go and there are certain times of the day that are harder for me. I do better on an emptier stomach.
