MTX shortage | Arthritis Information

Hi all,

I'm so glad we're back. I'd love to hear from Suzie and grandvan too. I just stumbled on this site by asking in the one group at "Yahoo groups on PA." Or I would never have found this site.

I have been desperate to find Injectable MTX. And I can't take the pills , cause of stomach issues.

If I don't find it, the doctor expects me to drive 1 1/2 hours one way to get my shot at their office, once a week. This would take up a  big chunk of a whole day each week, not to mention the weather here in the Northeast, Penna. has been awful the last several weeks.

The doctor's office insist the shortage . which has been going on since last Sept. has eased up and that I should be able to demand

My mail in pharamacy has returned my script. And I'm afraid to send it again. I've called everywhere and no one has it.

I'm really getting desperate , my supply is almost out, not to mention it is out of date , it expired last month.

I did stumble across this pharamcy name and number on the net. But have not had time to call them yet.

Mayne Parm. Co. phone number 1-888-606-2245 I'm going to call them today.I'll let everyone know what I find out.

Please let me know if  there are any pharamacies , you know of that are getting it in. Weis market and Walmart in central Penna. definitely do not have sources for it.

Thanks everyone,

Oh Rosanne,  How discouraging.  I too, live in NE PA.  My Rd recommended mtx, but I asked to hold off until next appointment.  I'm terrified of the side effects.  I was planning to ask if I can go straight to the injectable when I see him in March.  Maybe when the manufacturer realizes the increased demand, they'll increase supply.  Do you think contacting the company would help.  The Enliven company seems to want to work with the patients.

Please contact your MD or pharmacist before using an expired drug.  Sometimes they can make you really sick.  Be careful.

Take care.

Ellen

Rosanne,

Good news to share. I was able to get injectable MTX with no problems. I got it from the Safeway pharmacy (I'm in CA). Don't know if you have them there or if they deliver but its worth a shot (pun intended!!)

Roseanne - call around to find out if you have compounding pharmacy in your area - I have had trouble getting the MTX also but we have a compounding pharmacy who can compound it for me.  The bad news is it is only good for seven days so the day I need my shot, they give me two syringes of the MTX - one for that day and one for 7 days later - it means more trips to the drug store but that's better than going to the MD office every week.

Good luck!

Marcy

Hi all,

I did find MTX at Rite Aid but it's  preservative -free.  Still I hope to get it when I get a new prescription written for me. The last one was written all over by my mail-in pharmacy that they could not fill it and that my doc.'s office would give me the shot.

Which isn't going to happen and was news to me. But Rite Aid refused to fill my script b/c of the writing on the original script. UGH!!

So frustrating !!

Take care,

Rosanne

I went to the pharmacy today, and I cant' renew my prescription for oral liquid mtx. Does anybody know why the labs are not making it anymore. Why? I can't seem to get a good answer. Is there anything the Arthritis Foundation can do for us users?
