I have not had this much inflammation inn my hands & fingers in a while. I wonder why they decided to up & be my worst joint and my knees had took a backseat in the inflammation game?
Suzanne... It would be that, but... I was flaring way before the OJ cravings. My hands & fingers actually started swelling and being painful when I dropped down to 15mg of pred when I was on that 21 day pred flare taper. So... they had been getting worse and worse since then, and are not letting up. I have not been able to do much of anything with my hands this whole week. and when I do try to do something it hurts and I just get annoyed because 1. they hurt & 2. I have to ask for help or I go without. I hate asking hubby to pull up my under-roos, and help dress me, but when I try to do it myself I end up getting mad, annoyed and then start crying because I feel pathetic.
But yeah... I think it is the weather doing it. But I am going to call RD Monday to see if I can do another 21 day pred taper. It done some good for my knees, now maybe it will my hands and fingers.
I told my mom when I was visiting her at my sisters wednsday, that I think I liked it much better when my knees were swelled like my hands and fingers are now. She said why? I said because I did not use my knees as much as I use my hands & fingers.... I can go without using my knees, but my hands & fingers I have to use no matter what. Then I told her... next time my knees get bad again, and my hands and fingers are back to their "normal" swell, I WILL NOT be complaining about my knees swelling ever again!
She just looked at me crazy There is nothing worse then having to have your husband pull up your under roo's- I remember that! Oh there is something worse...when Aunt Flo came to town...he said that was where he drew the line!!!!!Sorry that you're suffering. Hands are not fun to have flare. Makes it difficult to do almost anything. Hope it doesn't last too long. Joonie, I have been meaning to tell you that I think I understand what you are saying about the difference in a hard swell and a normal swell. I think I see that in my daughter maybe. She has two fingers that always look swollen, but her sister says she can feel a difference.....when she bites her LOL. She says she can feel little fat balls with her teeth. (Don't ask me how this discovery was made....) Once when she said she couldn't feel any, the ped rheum said her arthritis was less active. Her fingers looked the same to me the whole time, but I guess there is a difference in what's in there, like you describe.
I hate tapering prednisone!! CUrrently NOT taking it but there for awhile was on it all the time. Pain and swelling would come back once I tapered down to less than 20 mg a day. I hope you feel better soon. What really made my hands better is the dreaded MTX!
