has anyne ever had referred pain in the knee from the cortosone shot i had a inj. on last monday my knee where he gave the shot i have severe pain in it and it radiates down my legWell that's awful, Deb.  A shot that creates more pain. Never had one of those "in the joint" injections. That's part of my white-coat phobia, but sorry this one did not work out for you. Sure hope the pain has subsided by now.[QUOTE=Hulagirl]Well that's awful, Deb.  A shot that creates more pain. All other joint inj have gone smoothly - no more trouble than a bruise.  Varying degrees of ouch while injecting the fluid (thumb and mid foot hurt most), but as soon as inj finished, I was ok. Even the 5 weekly inj of Supartz went ok each time (both knees 'oiled').

I find cortisone inj so helpful when a joint is just terribly painful. It lasts for months. Worth the trouble for me.

I had one injection in my left knee because of a Baker's cyst.  The knee had swollen so much that the shot evidently came close to a nerve that wasn't where it was supposed to be.  Didn't hurt at the time but three hours later when the novocaine wore off I was in a big world of hurt.  I wasn't able to walk or bear weight on it for a couple of days then it was better.  I think sometimes that if we were just made with zippers the docs would have an easier time than they do just shooting blind

I have had other shots since that time and not a problem (even though of course I was expecting a big problem!)

I had water on the knee and had it drained years ago...it only hurt a few days after . Normally if I get an injection in the joint, it hurts a few days and gets better after that.  Never had the radiating pain tho.
