Me & falling... Seems like we are a pair! | Arthritis Information

I fell EARLY Friday morning, like 2am. My lower back was spasming from me sitting up too much and for too long and my spine is inflammed. I went to my room to get my meds and I just pushed myself to walk over to where my meds were. I was going to lay down and let it ease up, before going to get them. Then on the way back to my bed. I got to the foot of my bed and for some reason (I know the reason now) my feet did not lift off the floor enough and hung a shirt that was in the floor and I kinda stumbled and then BOOM! On my butt I went.

I landed halfway in the clothes basket that was in the floor and the other half on the floor. I bruised my messed up elbow. I hit it on something. It is nice and bruised.

Hubby was alseep on the couch and I yelled for him and he came running on the 2nd yell for him. Unusual, but he did. Then he tried to help me up, because at this point there was no me helping. My meds had already wore off and when that happens my joints are swelled and do not cooperate, and my lower back was still spasming. So... now I have a nice bruise under my left arm from where hubby pulled me up by my arms because my hands were too swelled & painful for him to even touch.

Yep... I stumbled this time, because my feet would did not lift off the floor high enough. That is because when my lower back spasms and I try to push it just a little more, and make it spasm more, it makes my legs not work well.

Out of it all I got 2 bruises, and a cleaned up room! Hubby picked everything out of the floor and rearranged some of the clothes baskets and had daughter fold some of the clothes and all. I guess he does not want me falling anymore.

Now, I get to tell the neurologist I fell again.
Hope its not too sore right now.
Take care you!

Here is a sugar sandwich I made especially for you so eat up!

I blame FM for my poor balance. I'm averaging a near or complete fall every week now. Something I need to discuss with the doctor. Man, I hate falling! I hate it the inbetween time, the time between when you stumble and when you actually hit the ground. It's a split second but sometimes it seems like it's going in slow motion. I'm talking about the time that you're frozen in midair and your brain is already screaming "OH SH*T!!!!" I hope you feel better Joonie, no more falling or I'm gonna send you to your room! Oh Joonie, Please, please be careful, Sweetie!! You may remember that I fall pretty regularly, but since I broke my pelvis TWICE this year, I have been extremely careful. Haven't actually fallen since May, the second time I broke my pelvis. It was the right side that time. In Jan/Feb they discovered the first break (left side). Not even sure how  I did it! They think maybe a fall a couple of months earlier.

I only tell you this again because I can't stress enough how very careful you and the rest of us must be! The steroids many of us must take, make us more likely to get osteoporosis. Two years ago, I showed only ostoepenia. The recent DEXA scan I got indicated that I have osteoporosis which developed at a very rapid rate.

Please be extra careful! Joonie and the rest of you who suffer falls. We can't be too careful.

Be sure to tell your doc and see if they want to do any x-rays to be safe.

Take care,Joonie!

Much love, Nini
Geez Joonie, (and Nini), no more falling. That's an order from Sargeant Cindee! (My hubby calls me that). I'm good at giving orders. LOL
Seriously, find a better way for to get your house clean or better yet, leave it dirty!
I hope you feel better soon!
