Went to the RD today for a cortisone shot to the hip. My NP said I develped bursitis from the side stepping in the pool during aquatherapy.
Anyway we talked about all the bruises, my terrible fatigue, the fact that this week's Hurmira shot did nothing, and she said, "sweetie, its time to go on Remicade."
I've been fighting the whole idea, but I'm not doing well. Enbrel failed, Humira isn't working, MTX isn't working. I don't expect a cure, but I'm not even slightly controlled. She said even if the insurance company finally agrees to weekly Humira, it could take up to 3 months based on her previous experiences with appeals.
I despise IV's but I hate not being able to function even more. it isn't fair to Ally to have a mommy who can't play or dress her or stay awake. It isn't right that a 3 year old asks most mornings "how much do you hurt today?"
Tell me this is the right thing.
I think it's good news. It's going to be a good thing.When I was on Remicade I was a happy camper. At first I was afraid of the IV infusion but quickly became a convert. Not only could I just veg out and nap during the infusion but they even brought me snacks and lunch or dinner if it was the right time of day. The infusion took about two hours and was totally painless. The nurse crew was great too. Some rheumys do the infusion in their office. Mine was done in the urgent care section of the hospital where they do other infusions. The doc took me off both methatrexate and remicade because I got sick and couldn't shake the infection. Now my infection is cleared up and I will find out next Monday if I start back on Remicade. He switched me to Arava which so far only gives me a mild bellyache. It is supposed to be easier on the immune system than MTX. Good luck with the Remicade.3 doses of Enbrel 25mg did not hold me. Remicade lasts better - I'm pushing my 5 year on it, and its starting not to 'hold'. It is a good drug for many. Good Luck to you.
