Changing MTX side effects | Arthritis Information

So I no longer have any ulcer/hair issues, but I just started injectable.  This is what has happened:

Week 1: nurse did it in the morning.  Felt AWFUL afterwards, bad day.  Nauseous and tired
Week 2: injected right before bed.  No real nausea but SO tired afterwards.
Week 3: didn't really notice anything
Week 4: injected Sat. night.  Felt crappy yesterday, crappy today too.  Hung over

Why the difference? or is a virus that my kids gave me still hanging around.  It feels like mtx hangover but I feel like I didn't get it last week!  Maybe I had more caffeine that day...it was a Sunday, and I had to go into work to do something rush, so maybe I was distracted?

and my RA symptoms were up and down last week, from moderate to severe with no rhyme or reason. I can finally see wrinkles on the back of my elbow again but for a while I couldn't

The constant uncertainty is taking some time to adjust to...to say the least
Katie, the MXT fatigue is my only side effect after several years of taking MXT.  Some weeks I'm fine and others I just don't do anything that needs brain molecules.  Believe me when I tell you it will vary from week to week but you should be having few side effects.  If it's only brain fog we can work through that.   Lindy

Katie, I took Mtx for 2 weeks and it put me in the hospital with a bleeding ulcer. Don't want to scare you. It was just me. DR. took me off right now.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks Lin. Nice to hear it's not in my head.

For some reason MTX has not bothered me much, except the fatigue.  Before I was on injectible I wouldn't have even known I was on it, most of the time (which may have been part of why it wasn't working...absorption/distribution issues?)

Anyway, I think it may be working some.  That is the first time I have said that since I started on it in March.  My wrist looks a teensy bit less swollen and the pain in my foot (that had just developed 2 weeks ago) is almost gone.  But I have gotten intermittant swelling before that comes & goes depending on how active I am and what I'm doing.  My elbow is MUCH better but my shoudler was super painful last night (but better than last week). Lord knows at this point.  I'll reassess in a month when I have my appt...
Katie, I'm glad that you're seeing some relief after a month.  It can take up to 3 months for the full benefit.  LindyIt has been so long that I'm in denial that it will ever work...after 5 months of pills, RD only wanted to do 2 months of injectible before deciding about biologics, but i do think I'll push make that decision until 3 months, maybe even until christmas, if the mtx isn't working better.
