OT - First Day of School! | Arthritis Information

Well, today was the first day of the new school year.  The boys and I loaded up their backpacks last night with supplies for the upcoming year.  We spent an hour inventorying, labeling, checking, and rechecking.  God forbid one boy has 25 pencils and the other only has 23!  We walked to school this morning with our backpacks.  Mine was the heaviest - I had 3 freshly-repaired laptops (along with their power supplies, and my PC toolkit) in it to return to the school.  I also had two large bags of kleenex/paper towels/etc.  And the boys actually had the nerve to complain about how heavy THEIR backpacks were! Yep, love the first day of school!

I hope he doesn't have pink eye cuz' they won't let him go. My son (15) is already trying to get out of school. He's a scammer! LOL He tried to tell me he needed to drive around all day because he won't have enough hours before he gets his liscense. Now it's 50 hours 10 of which is at night. He has 26 hours and his b-day's in March. So I said, "Jer, it's six months til your b-day, you're going to school tomorrow, don't even try it!" LOL He can come up with some good ones. Then he says he has diarrhea. I told him they have toilets at school.
Seriously, I do hope your son isn't sick. I also said to hubby that as soon as the kids return the cooties start floating around and someone gets sick.
Best wishes to you and your son!

Does anyone remember your 1st day of school? I found it to be most unpleasent as I was a very shy child. I would come up with excuses so I would not have to go back to that horrible place with the mean kids. Did'nt work for me. I always had to go to school. But JasmineRain ounds like your son had a speific issue. Does'nt sound like he's tring to ditch classes, quite the opposite. Sounds like he wants to go but something is in the way.

Good idea, if his eyes are still like this in the morning, take him to his dr.

Hope all turns out okay<

Yea, it's hard to fake burning pink/red eyes.
I didn't go to preschool or kindergarten, so 1st grade was the first day of school, and the teacher was exactly the same way.  She used to say, "If you kids don't shut up I'm going to knock your teeth down your throats." I was the bookish shrinking violet of the class and totally believed her.  Little did I know she was actually a distant relative and wouldn't have harmed a hair on my head.  (Back in those days kids who misbehaved still got paddled.)  To make matters worse, in this school the first and second grade teachers switched grades every year, which meant I had Mrs. Crabapple for 2 years in a row.

Not to mention the fact that the teacher was like 80 years old, never married/had kids of her own and was a grade-A crabass.
