Just curious as I can not find any information on this, and I know a lot of you have experience with steroids. How long should it take for the Prednisone to start working? I took my 1st dose this morning, will it be a few days or should I feel something sooner? I am only on it for 2 weeks, and I don't go back to the Dr for 3 weeks.  I noticed the medrol I'm taking (also prednisone) kicked in within a few days...I felt immediate releif even after the first day, just noticed the swelling and stiffness not as bad. I am on a low dose and havent stopped. 4mg/day going on my 3rd month. I dont want to either. It's the only thing that has gotten me back to normal.Jenn, it will probably be 36-48 hours and then you'll notice a difference but it's different for each of us.  L [QUOTE=jennmommi]Just curious as I can not find any information on this, and I know a lot of you have experience with steroids. You could start feeling a difference this afternoon.  You'll probably have much less pain and stiffness when you wake up tomorrow morning.  Medrol (prednisone analog) works miracles for me; within 24 hours of starting a course of medrol, I will go from major flare and fatigue to pain-free and boundless energy.  My rheumatologist has said that even though I am seronegative, my symptoms and my dramatic response to medrol (and also plaquenil now) lead to the diagnosis of seronegative RA.
OK I just wanted a general time frame.  I sure hope it works. What is seronegative RA?
Sero-negative is when the Rheumatoid Factor (blood test) is not elevated to an abnormal level. About 20 percent of people who have rheumatoid arthritis test negative for the rheumatoid factor. Those patients are classified as "sero-negative rheumatoid arthritis".
Oh I see.  Well I've always tested positive.  thanks you lean something new here everyday.
