Also, have you tried another kind of litter? Our cat now has access to the outside at all times to go to the toilet and only uses a tray if being kept in a ' sickroom'
Hope you get it sorted as you are obviously attached to the kitty.

I agree with Lyn about having her checked out. The vet may even have some suggestions for you, don't give up hope just yet!
You definitely don't want to have a smell though! Last fall my husband and I were away in Texas for about 2 weeks and our cleaning lady accidentally shut our cat in our bedroom for 5 days. My 0 comfortor was ruined, I'm glad it was thick or else we would have had to replace our mattress. The dry cleaners couldn't do anything with the awful thing!! But I was overjoyed that the cat was fine!
Hope you're able to find a solution and not have to say good bye to your little friend!

anaudlife2008-08-29 04:59:35 I love cats. I would take this kitty to the vet for a check up but if there is no medical reason that could be treated this kitty would have to go. Sometimes they get spiteful. Maybe it can live outside instead?Hi Cinda, here is a
link to a site I like, someone there has a similar problem. You might get some ideas from the responses to that post, and they also have some good articles and "stickies" . Good luck, that must be very frustrating. Sometimes our cat will be lounging on our bed and decide to cough up a hairball, too lazy to even jump down to the floor first - yuck!! But hairballs are easier to clean up and don't smell bad like urine. Hope you get it solved.
The first thing to do is to take the kitty to the vet. It could be an illness. It is very common for that to be the cause of indescriminate urination. Sometimes it
is just a behavioral problem. The only trick I can suggest is an additional litterbox. Some kitties will actually pee in one and poop in another! My mom said she use to have a cat that peed in the toilet, and a dog that would use the litterbox. And another cat that bit the heads of her babies off and hid them for my mom to find.
Yeah... my mom has had some weird animals, ok disturbed animals.
Thanks guys. She just went to the vet on Wednsday. Vet said she was healthy. We have 2 litter boxes as my step daughter has a cat as well.
Like I said, 1st cat I ever had that did this.
Sounds like she wants to be the ONLY catI had a cat I babied before I had kids. When my daughter used to go to bed the cat used to shake her barbie dolls by the hair. She scratched up the boys coloring books with her back claws (didn't have front ones) and peed in the toy box!My four year old cat has exactly the same problem. We've taken her to the vet, and it appears to be behavioral.
I have a few suggestions. We now close the bedroom door during the day. We open it at night, we don't think he'll pee right on us! And he hasn't.
I leave the door of the upstairs bedroom open and use a plastic mattress pad covered by just a quilt so there won't be too much to wash.
He doesn't appear to go to the same place twice which is good. He peed on my sofa which is bad because I've tried just about everything to get the odor out and haven't met with much success.
We love Bob so he's staying and I wish you the best of luck with yours.
I had to put a plastic table cloth over my bed to keep a cat from peeing on it. Worked fairly well. He ended up peeing on his own feet because plastic does not absorb like the bedding did. He wanted to be able to go in and out of the house. He peed on my bed to let me know he did not want to be an indoor cat. When we first got Honey Pi we were told that she had a potty problem. So at night
I would put her in the bathroom with a nice little bed and her food and water and her litter box. I did that for about a week or so and we have not had a problem in the year that we have had her.
The thing that really grosses me out though are the hair balls that she yacks up.
The only time any of my cats peed in the wrong place was if they had an infection or they didn't like the kitty litter or the litter box. My current cat will only go in a covered box (privacy issues?) or if his box isn't pristine, he will peed over the drain in the bathtub. If I hear him scratching in my bathtub, I know his litter box needs cleaning.
My previous cat needed two boxes. One downstairs for peeing and the other upstairs for pooping.
If you have two cats, you may need more than two boxes. Your kitty may want his own private boxes. Keep trying and I'm sure you will find a solution.
