Anyone out there have a child with JRA? | Arthritis Information

 

HELP! I have RA for years. Well, now my 12 year old daughter is showing signs! I have found her a doctor to see but, I'm not sure what we are looking for. What to ask, what test should be taken????? Anyone out there with some advise?

Hi Gina,  Come over to rafriends.  Pam S. and Wayney both have children that have RA and they also have it.  They are both absolutely great people to communicate with and get to know.  Welcome.

Pam S2008-12-04 10:08:03Hi Gina, My daughter was diagnosed at age 15, and is now 20. Her first symptoms were pain in different joints that would come and go in a matter of a few hours.  She then developed flu like symptoms, aching all over, and then her feet and ankles swelled terribly. The Primary MD ran a RF among other things and hers is positive.  I did have to push a bit to get things done qucikly, but it's so important to get treatment started as soon as possible. Your MD should do a CRP, sed rate, ANA and RF.  I don't know what is available to you, but my daughter received excellent care at CHildren's hospital here in San Diego until she was 19.  Karen
