I have to sit up all night to sleep because my arms/ and hands start tingling when i lay down.. anyone else experience this?
Yes, It just started 3 days ago! I was going to post the same question. I tried everything, even my splints but nothing helps. I hope somebody has a suggestion for us.

I have peripheral neuritis which causes my hands and fingers to go to sleep. It happens sometimes to people with RA in both their hands and feet. I have discovered that laying flat causes my shoulders to flatten and that precipitates the tingling and numbness. I discovered that if I laid slightly propped up (couple pillows graduated-one low one higher up) and put other pillows below my armpits that this stopped the problem. Just because it worked for me doesn't mean it will work for everyone but I got really tired of trying to sleep in my recliner.Happens to me too. I hate it. Sometimes sleeping with a splint helps, pred to ease the swelling also helps.
I sometimes roll a bathcloth and sleep holding that in my hands and that seems to help a little.
I was told that swelling will do that it puts pressure on the nerves and let me tell you how swollen I am some of you guys say you lose weight when you are flaring I am the oppisite I blot right up and get really puffy I look like a blow fish right no and when I feel better I get smaller it is weird how that works anyways the swelling wilol do that to you arms and fingers.....TERESAI had the same problem last year. Was extremely painful. It was due to carpal tunnel in both hands that I got from the RA. I had surgery on one hand and it helped. Then I started pred. and mtx and it went awayI've got it lately too. When it is just my hands it is carpal tunnel but when it is more than that, it is usually my ulnar nerve being pressed on. It can also be from compression of the radial nerve at the neck or in shoulder.mary
You can have carpal tunnel with or without RA. (Swelling compresses the nerves (or bony OA grows). )WOW, Carpral Tunnel...What else is left to get because of RA...Everyday I think I have a better handle on this disease and WHAM...A new off shoot of something else to look forward too...
I'm thinking I better get a bigger handle...I think I'm going to need it...
